Dubai, (6th June, 2015) United Arab Emirates ): Over 600 guests, including government officials business leaders and socialites attended the Pacific Ventures Annual Gala Dinner hosted by Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs on 5th June 2015 at Al Johara Ballroom, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.
The Gala Dinner under the generous patronage of H.H Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, was a special night of fine dining, glitz and glamour with an exciting line-up of entertainment, comprising opera singers, live band, stand-up comedy act by Nitin Mirani, BNF dance performance, silent and live auctions and a five star ambience for networking and raising awareness for a noble cause. Al Noor Training Centre has been the epitome of care and service to Special Needs children across the Emirates for more than 2 decades. And funds are vital for the Centre to cater to the diversified needs of 270 special students. The Gala Dinner was thus the perfect platform to generate funds and foster compassion and participation among the people of Dubai.
The event was opened by Mr. Khalid Al Halyan, Chairman, Al Noor Training Centre, who shared his vision saying, “The Gala Dinner is testimony to the good cause our Centre is dedicated to and it is heartwarming to count the number of well-wishers. However, I believe the corporate sector must take a more proactive role in addressing the needs of special needs children and contribute with more vigour.”
The black tie event was compered by Tom Urqhart, renowned television and radio presenter, who kept the audiences dazzled and impressed. Guests had the opportunity to bid for exquisite items at the silent and live auction. One of the highlights of the evening was the auction of a limited edition pen designed by Lebanese artist Katya Traboulsi and crafted by Montegrappa artisans, to pay tribute to Khalil Gibran's greatest work, The Prophet. Another highlight of the event was the auction of the painting by celebrity Dollarsandart artist Jim Wheat along with the paintings made by the students of Al Noor.
Mr. Mohammed Al Marzooq won the pen at the live auction by placing the highest bid of AED 37,000. The painting “Noor for the eye$” by Jim Wheat was bought by Mr. Chris Preece for AED 4,000 and Mr. Wheat's jacket which was designed by the House of Vanderhaer was sold to Mr. Charles Nahhas for AED 2,000. Another item; the Roger Federer Cap & T-Shirt was sold to Roy C.J for AED 15,000. Ms. Nadia Abdul Aziz was the highest bidder of the lovely Pinctada Pearl Jewelry for AED 9,000. ATEIS bought two items from the live auction; the “Al Mal” painting by Al Noor students for AED 5,000 and two Business Class return tickets to any European destination from Emirates Airlines for AED 26,000. The second Al Noor painting entitled “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque ' was sold to Mr. Sanjiv Patel for AD 10,000. The painting “Al Raheem” by Dr. Sana Bedar was bought by Mr. Mohammad Al Mulla for AED 30,000 and the last item which was a framed Golf memorabilia of Mr. Rory McIlroy was sold to Mr. Oscar Mattheus for AED 5,000. A total of 10 exclusive items were sold at the evening's live auction.
Mr. Ms. Isphana Al Khatib, Director of the Centre expressed her delight saying, “We are overwhelmed by the support that has been bestowed on us and we thank our Patron and Partners for their continuous support. We are optimistic that our students will be hugely benefitted by the funds raised. “
The fundraising event got massive support from local and international organizations in form of donation and sponsorship, helping the Centre achieve its mission . Pacific Ventures Real Estate Developer was the Diamond Sponsor and Loreal Middle East, ATEIS and Audi R8 Club were the Bronze Sponsors.
Pacific Ventures Chairperson, Mr. Parvez Khan empathized saying, “Although Al Noor is doing a fantastic job, and the staff are truly dedicated. Their resources are limited which means the financial and voluntary man hours provided by the business and wider community of Dubai are absolutely essential and this is why Pacific Ventures will continue to increase our support for this vital organisation.” Pacific Ventures has also pledged to cover the Centre's current wish list as mentioned by Mr. Shaher Mousli, CEO of Pacific Ventures Limited.
