Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 10 June, 2015: Dubai Hospital recently installed a state-of-the-art patient monitoring system in the paediatric unit of the hospital.
Dr Abdulrehman Al Jassmi, CEO of Dubai Hospital, recently inaugurated the system which helps enhance patient safety and is the first one to be implemented in the Middle East and North Africa(MENA) region.
Al Jassmi said that the hospital ensures it keeps pace with the latest developments in the medical field so that it can incorporate techniques, technologies and equipment which are aimed to further improve patient safety and patient outcomes.
Fouad Chehab, director of nursing at Dubai Hospital, said: “ The patient monitoring system is used to monitor the patient’s pulse and oxygen saturation. We have installed this system in the paediatric unit of the hospital for all 34 paediatric beds. Each bed is equipped with one wall mounted machine and all machines are connected to two central stations. Patient parameters are monitored through single cable (sensor) connected to the patient’s finger. “
Chehab said the system is really convenient to use and facilitates round-the-clock real time monitoring. “All the nurses in the unit have been provided with pagers so that any alarm that goes off is audible. Moreover, the alert goes to the assigned nurse and to the shift in-charge so that they can attend to the patient immediately in case there is a drop in the patient’s pulse or oxygen saturation.”
Chehab added that the system guarantees quick response to patient’s needs and it is designed in a manner that it has only a single sensor connection instead of many cables.
