Our Infrastructure Main Contracting Client has a new requirement for a seasoned Project Director to join their team in Abu Dhabi working on a major new wastewater infrastructure and lifting station project. Successful candidates will have a proven background with extensive experience in pumping stations and wastewater infrastructure, specifically deep shaft sewage and wastewater lifting station projects in the UAE and / or the wider GCC and have worked for recognised main contracting companies previously. This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity, employed by our client. Key Responsibilities: Lead and direct all phases of deep shaft wastewater and pumping station projects from concept to handover. Develop and oversee project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. Manage design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning activities. Provide technical direction for deep shaft construction (including methodologies for secant piling, diaphragm walls, and shaft sinking). Oversee installation of high-power pumping systems, screening equipment, and mechanical/electrical components. Ensure integration with wastewater collection networks and treatment facilities. Manage project budgets, cost control, and financial reporting. Negotiate and administer contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Identify and mitigate commercial and technical risks throughout the project lifecycle. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, government authorities, and joint venture partners. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including municipalities, utilities, and regulatory bodies. Lead project reviews, progress reporting, and client meetings. Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all local and international HSEQ standards. Ensure all quality assurance and quality control processes are implemented and maintained. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, including project managers, engineers, superintendents, and support staff. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Requirements
Project Director (Wastewater & Pumping Stations) Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred) 15–20+ years of experience in infrastructure or water sector projects with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role. Proven experience in deep shaft sewage / wastewater lifting station projects (minimum 2–3 large-scale projects). Previous experience in the Middle East / GCC (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait) is highly preferred. Deep understanding of deep excavation methods, diaphragm walls, secant piling, high-capacity pump systems, and wastewater treatment processes. PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable. Familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, and project management tools
