Seven tips to a taking a selfie we’re all lovin’
Dubai, UAE, 15 March, 2015 – At McDonald’s UAE, we’re all about spreading the joy and the things that make our fans smile. And with our latest secret on the verge of being spilled, we thought we’d share a few tips on the best ways to make the most of their time in our stores.
Here’s a BIG hint: Selfie! Let’s be honest, we’ve all taken one at some point or another. Whether you’re a bit of a rookie, a once-in-a-while culprit or a full blown pro, we’ve all experienced the motion of the “selfie arm”. But what you may not have known is that there is a specific art behind an ultimate selfie. An art which could change your selfie game forever.
We spoke to our staff and gauged their feedback. Here are their top tips on taking an ultimate selfie.
1. Background is essential. Be sure to pick your location strategically. No one wants to see your floor-drobe or that awkward guy photo-bombing behind you in McCafe.
2. Be confident. You’ve got this, so don’t be shy! You are, by nature, the focal point of your selfie. Relax, don’t take it too seriously and don’t be afraid to be silly!
3. Let there be light! Natural light is the best light, and you should always try to face your light source. It brightens your eyes and makes your skin glow! Overhead lighting can create unflattering shadows and dark under-eyes, whilst under lighting can give the double-chin illusion.
4. Check yourselfie before you wreck yourselfie. Teeth, hair, surroundings. There’s nothing worse than taking an ultimate selfie only to realise you had lipstick on your teeth. A quick mirror check never hurt.
5. Master those angles. Everyone has a good side and a better angle, and we’ve all been subject to the awkward double chin! Play around with head-tilts and arm positions, and take the time to establish what works best for you.
6. Avoid mirrors. Unless you’re looking to take a full body shot, mirrors are a big no-no. A good selfie will look natural and un-posed, and won’t reveal that awkward angle you’re actually holding that camera at!
7. The more, the merrier. The more shots you take, the sooner you’ll determine what does and doesn’t work angle-wise. And you’ll have more choice once you find that perfect shot!
Get practicing! We want you looking your best for what is set to be an international phenomenon. Embrace the fad and master your ultimate selfie. We’ll be updating you very soon.
