Dubai, February 4, 2015: Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) has unveiled Arabic summaries of three new international books under its ‘Book in Minutes’ initiative, focusing on topics of relevance to happiness and success in professional and social life, including challenges faced by new managers.
‘Book in Minutes’ makes international best-seller books available in easy-to-read Arabic summaries, and aims to popularise specialised books in different genres among the public. It promotes a culture of reading and enhances the knowledge of the people, in turn, inspiring them to lead happier lives while strengthening stronger family and parent-child relationships.
The new series of summaries include an introductory note by H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of MBRF, which highlights positive thinking and positive communication as the main pillars to a healthy environment of innovation and creativity as well as achieving success in life. The positive individual will lead to a positive community and help raise intellectual and cultural levels, apart from contributing to dissemination of knowledge and innovation to create sustainable development, H.E. Jamal bin Huwaireb states in the note.
The first book, Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert, is a psychological detective story. The book looks at the misguided attempts to find happiness and explains the numerous psychological illusions that tend to distort human perception of joy. The book begins by raising some questions and dilemmas that plague almost everyone: Why am I not happier? Does money make me happy? How much money will make me happy? How can I be happier? After establishing the subjectivity and difficulty in measuring happiness, Gilbert points to various studies and experiments which lead to three main conclusions that are worth knowing.
The second book in the series is The 27 Challenges Managers Face by Bruce Tulgan, which talks about Step-by-Step Solutions to management problems. It mentions 27 Challenges managers most often struggle with and offers the best step-by-step solution, based on twenty years of workplace research. The 27 Challenges are enumerated not in order of frequency or difficulty, but rather according to the bigger picture human capital issues in which the challenges fall.
The final book in the series is Never Get Sick Again by Raymond Francis and Kester Cotton. The book presents a seminal work based on these findings – a revolutionary theory of health and disease: there is only one disease (malfunctioning cells), only two causes of disease (deficiency and toxicity), and six pathways to health and disease (nutrition, toxins, psychological, physical, genetic, and medical). This remarkable book answers the questions: What is health? What is disease? Why do people get sick? How can disease be prevented? How can it be reversed? It will teach readers, in one easy lesson, an entirely new way to look at health and disease - an approach that is easy to understand, yet so powerful that they may, indeed, never have to be sick again.
‘Book in Minutes’ addresses all segments of the society, including youth and families as well as intellectuals and business professionals. The initiative has gained acclaim with translated summaries of the books provided to the participants to enable them to lead positive lives.
