Ecuador bolsters food trade and investment opportunities with UAE

PRO ECUDAOR to showcase country’s rich and diverse products at Gulfood 2015

Dubai, 1 February 2015: One of the best performing economies in South America, Ecuador's exports to the UAE reached 7,893 tonnes to the value of USD 8.5 million in 2014 showing an increase of 36% from 2013. Ecuador is all set to leverage its presence in the Middle East while bolstering food trade and investment opportunities with UAE.

Pro Ecuador - the trade and investment promotion organisation of Ecuador with 32 offices around the worldwide including in Dubai - is taking part for the third consecutive time at Gulfood 2015, the world's biggest annual food & hospitality show. During the five-day event, Pro Ecuador will be showcasing the country’s rich and diverse products.

Every year, Pro Ecuador offers something unique at Gulfood. During its 2013 participation, Ecuador Pavilion was awarded the 'Best Trade Stand of up to 40m²’ during Gulfood Awards, the Middle East's most highly regarded food and beverage accolade. In last year’s edition, PRO Ecuador organised a networking breakfast event titled ‘Experience Ecuador… Love Life!’ and a business matchmaking event that was held on the side-lines of the exhibition.

Ecuador has been attracting many UAE-based companies to explore business prospects and seek sourcing opportunities from various industries in Ecuador. And its participation at Gulfood will offer networking opportunities thus advancing trade relations with new markets in Latin America, which further help in strengthening its presence in the region.

Pro Ecuador will bring together nine Ecuadorian companies representing wide range of products from different industries such as fine chocolate, dairy products, palm hearts, artichokes, quinoa, broccoli candies, bubble-gum, banana and snacks.

Furthermore, participating at the event will provide an opportunity for key buyers from different sectors to further strengthen and capitalise the immense opportunities of trade and investment in the future, which have seen significant demand and growth in the UAE.
The trade status between the UAE and Ecuador is reaching new heights year after year. Pro Ecuador’s participation at Gulfood for the third consecutive year comes in the basis of strengthening the trade relations between Ecuador and UAE and promoting the rich Ecuadorian products to the rest of the region.

UAE companies are actively exploring Ecuador as a chief trading partner to import non-oil products. Additionally, the country has organised several trade events in the UAE which successfully attracted many locally based companies.
