Dubai, December 6, 2014 - Those who missed out on the chance to enjoy a free ride around Dubai in an ultra luxury car can look forward to doing so this weekend as the Supercar Taxi, one of the most eye-catching features of this year’s Dubai Motor Festival (DMF), returns to popular city landmarks to offer residents and visitors one last chance to experience the ride of their lives.
One of the most unique concepts to hit the streets of Dubai, the Supercar Taxi consists of a fleet of 10 extraordinary cars – each worth AED 1 million or more – that move around city hotspots each weekend of DMF 2014 to offer customers free one-way rides within Dubai. The fleet comprises such awe-inspiring names as the Ferrari California, Lamborghini Aventador, Rolls-Royce Wraith, Mercedes SLS AMG, Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes G63, Audi R8, a stretch Mercedes G Class, and more.
Among the scores of residents and visitors who got to enjoy a free ride on these dream machines was Kamran, a visitor from Pakistan who hopped into a stunning Audi R8 from Atlantis The Palm for a ride back to his hotel in Downtown Dubai. “It was an amazing experience. Every time I visit Dubai, the city seems to have some surprise or the other up its sleeve. And I must say I’m really struck by how professionally the whole thing is organized and run; I run an event management company myself, so I know what it takes to pull off such concepts.”
Hattan Haroon, a Saudi national who rode on a Mercedes G63, was equally delighted. “It was a unique experience, my family enjoyed it very much. I actually wanted to drive the car myself. I hope I get a chance to do so someday.”
This weekend, commuters waiting for a taxi after a pleasant day of shopping at some of Dubai’s popular malls - as well as passengers stepping out of the airport after an exhausting flight - may have a stunning surprise awaiting them as the Supercar Taxi once again winds its way around the city to offer customers a dream-come-true experience like no other.
On Friday (5 December), the supercar fleet will pick up customers from three popular city hotspots – Mina A'Salam at Madinat Jumeirah, City Centre Deira, and the arrivals section of Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, while for its farewell run on Saturday (6 December), the luxury cars will fetch customers from Mercato Mall and from Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 to ferry them to destinations within city limits.
The Supercar Taxi is one of the signature attractions of the 2nd annual Dubai Motor Festival, taking place from 19 November to 6 December under the theme ‘Passion on Wheels’. Organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), DMF is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and forms part of the emirate’s strategy to use festivals and events as a means to drive tourism growth in line with Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020.
