JETRO Dubai hosts a grand opening of the Japanese Food Exhibition in Dubai

October 9th, 2014, Dubai - Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Dubai recently hosted the grand opening of the Japanese Food Exhibition. Held on the 7th of October at the Sheikh Suite Conference Center in the Le Meridien Hotel, the Exhibition was presided over by JETRO Director, Mr. Watanabe Masayoshi and witnessed the attendance of the Consul General of Japan in Dubai, Mr. Hisashi Michigami. Top media from the country were also present at the opening event. 

Organized by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the exhibition kicked off at noon and gave guests the chance to discover the authentic tastes and flavors of Japan and its food. Based on the theory that Japan goes through four seasons, the tastes have been adapted in such a way that allows guests to experience the joy of each season’s distinct taste. The exhibition runs in three different phases, namely the 1st period (September 16 - November 11, 2014), 2nd period (November 4, 2014 - January 3, 2015) and 3rd period (January 6 – February 14, 2015). The long-running exhibition aims to increase awareness about Japanese food, ingredients and culinary products among the region’s media along with restaurant officials, food buyers and hoteliers.

Providing a complete Japanese feel to the exhibition, a traditional Shamisen performance also took place as the guests mingled with each other and sampled the food on offer.
