Automotive Spare Parts Trade Market Contributed Nearly USD 10 Billion of Dubai’s Total Foreign Trade;
A-MAP Cements Global Opportunities at Region’s Largest Automotive Aftermarket Exhibition
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The region’s largest automotive aftermarket exhibition Automechanika Dubai opened today, welcoming Dubai-based auto parts resellers A-MAP’s international contribution to the MENA region.
The UAE is the second largest automobile market among the GCC, after Saudi Arabia, despite no real automotive manufacturing activity taking place, with an estimated growth of 27 percent year-on-year for new vehicle sales alone, according to a report compiled by the US Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration.
The automotive spare parts trade market recently contributed nearly USD 10 billion (3.3 percent) of Dubai’s total foreign trade, according to the same report, with international brands from Japan, China and South Korea being amongst the most popular.
“We are the exclusive distributors for international brands such as Korea’s Solite batteries and European designed Fenix tyres amongst others, and they are very interested in Automechanika as it is the potential gateway to the rest of the region,” said Asad Badami, managing director of A-MAP, “The world’s top business groups – from the Middle East to China, Japan, Germany, and the US – come to Dubai to trade, and auto parts manufacturers are no different.”
Dubai continues to be a growing hub for the region – especially within the re-export and automotive markets which consistently record growth - and is a key foothold for many ambitious businesses wanting to expand and tap into new markets within the Middle East and Africa.
“Over the past few years, we have seen our business grow exponentially, and we firmly believe that this growth is rooted in the many international relationships we have worked hard to develop, many of which have been instigated at Automechanika. With today’s successful networking platform we aim to deliver the best prospects on a global level that is fitting of Dubai,” added Badami.
Export and re-export values are continuing to increase in the Emirate, with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry members reporting a seven percent increase in the first half of 2013 alone, to the value of Dh145.2 billion.
“The UAE as a whole is the leading regional commercial centre, with Dubai playing a pivotal role as a regional trade, logistics and tourism hub. With developments such as Dubai World Central, Dubai’s position as the nucleus for distribution in the region is well and truly cemented.”
Automechanika Dubai 2014 has the potential to be larger than the record-setting 2013 edition, riding on buoyant market conditions in the wider region. The exhibition and conference, which attracted more than 24,000 trade visitors and buyers last year and featured 1,482 exhibitors, enjoys a reputation for being an unmatched business networking and facilitating platform for the region.
A-MAP has chosen Automechanika Dubai as the platform to unveil its new range of automotive lubricants, which comes with the highest performance specifications and provide longevity, reliability and maximum protection. A-MAP will feature live demonstrations, giving industry professionals the opportunity to learn more about its quality control practices and warranty management systems, as well as sample its latest customer service offerings.
Headquartered in the 'bustling trading hub' of Dubai, UAE, A-MAP operates a network of branch offices in Asia, Africa, and North America.
