Culture and Co, the French bookstore of the Emirates, has announced its active participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair which starts on the 30th April and ends on the 5th May 2014 at the ADNEC - Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
“During the 2014 edition, the French Pavilion, which is co-managed by the BIEF - International Agency of the French Book Publishing Industry – and Culture & Co, in partnership with the French Institute, will be extremely animated.” Renata Sader, owner of Culture & Co, commented. “It will highlight graphic novels and children’s books and many workshops have been organized for the public to mingle with their favourite authors.”
Workshops by youth writers Sylvaine Jaoui and Roxane Marie-Galliez will take place throughout the event, while Swedish children’s writer Jan Loof, whose works have been translated into French, will meet his young readers on Saturday 3rd May. For older readers, graphic novelist Nicolas Wild will be present at the Illustrator’s
Corner and will run a workshop in the French Pavilion.
The programme will also feature literature and geopolitics, with geographer Frank Tétart, lecturer at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, introducing and signing his
“Grand Atlas 2014”, William Gueraiche, lecturer at the American University of Dubai, introducing and signing his book on the Geopolitics of the U.A.E “Geopolitique de Dubai et des Emirats Arabes Unis”, writer Gabriel Malika signing his books “Qatarina” and “Les meilleures intentions du monde” and Swedish award-winning authors Kristina Ohlsson, Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg and Majgull Axelsson who will sign French translations of their works on Saturday 3rd May at 4:30 pm.
“As the Kingdom of Sweden is the Guest of Honour of this year’s ADIBF, we wanted to be sure that its creations were also accessible to the French-speaking community so we are delighted to have Swedish authors come to the French Pavilion and meet the French-speaking public. We are very excited about this cooperation.” Sader added.
The French Pavilion is situated at the entrance of hall 11, next to the pavilion of the Guest of Honour.
