Tabreed Launches Inaugural Corporate Social Responsibility Report
Last Update: Friday, April 18, 2014 : 00:02 (+4GMT)
Focuses on the company’s three CSR pillars of community, environment and people
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: National Central Cooling Company PJSC (‘Tabreed’), the leading Abu Dhabi-based district cooling utility infrastructure company, today launched its first annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report.
The report outlines Tabreed’s approach to CSR and documents the company’s initiatives aimed at developing its people and ensuring their health and safety, engaging with the community and in particular UAE national students, as well as safeguarding the environment.
Jasim Husain Thabet, CEO of Tabreed, said: “As a UAE-based company, Tabreed has a heightened sense of obligation to the community and nation at large. This obligation stretches beyond the everyday operation of our business and pushes us to engage constructively with our surroundings and stakeholders in a multi-faceted way.”
He added: “In this inaugural edition of our CSR report, we have striven to highlight the different ways we aim to serve the public good and leave a lasting imprint on society. The way we do this is by first examining what makes us unique as a company, and then leveraging our strengths to benefit the community, our people, and the environment.
“This CSR report marks an initial step for us. We hope that in the coming years, as this report continues to evolve and mature, we add to the areas we report on and delve deeper into existing areas.”
Tabreed’s first CSR pillar focuses on its people. The report highlights Tabreed’s initiatives aimed at developing its employees and the emphasis it places on health and safety, such as the creation of an HSE e-Learning Center and continuous HSE training for all staff.
Its second CSR pillar, environment, outlines Tabreed’s numerous environmentally-friendly practices, such as the use of thermal storage tanks, treated sewage effluent (TSE) and its water recycling system that re-uses water seven times to maximize efficiencies within its network. These initiatives have led to substantial reductions in energy consumption while also cutting carbon dioxide emissions.
Tabreed’s third CSR pillar focuses on the community. The company has undertaken several initiatives that are directed towards nurturing future Emirati leaders such as student internships and university lectures. These initiatives aim to encourage Emiratis to not only pursue private sector employment but also provide them with the required technical knowledge and skills.
