Wacom Co. Ltd., a global leader in interactive pen displays and digital drawing tablets, has revealed its successful participation at the recently concluded 7th Gulf Education Supplies and Solutions (GESS) exhibition. During the show, the company was able to throw the spotlight on its products and services featuring the latest in interactive innovations—tailored especially for the global education sector.
The company’s participation in the major event came amidst the rapidly expanding education sector in the Middle East buoyed by the government’s investments on the latest educational tools. To date, Wacom already enjoys a major presence among different schools and universities in the Middle East and African (MEA) region, like King Abdulaziz University, Dammam University, King Abdullah University for Science and Technology in KSA, American University of Sharjah, American University in the UAE and many in the region. The market share of the UAE’s education sector is now pegged at USD 7.3 billion which accounts for approximately 24 per cent of the total federal expenditure. The value of GCC’s private education market has also significantly risen to USD 15 billion. The Informa’s Institute for International Research (IIR) Middle East attributed the growth to the large number of international schools, strong population growth, and continued economic expansion.
Wacom displayed its latest technological advances such as the new DTH-2242 at Stand E1 of the event venue. Combining pen input with multi-finger touch, the new interactive display supports improved workflow efficiency and intuitive visual communication. Adding notes and drawings with the pen is quickly done, while standard and custom touch gestures can be used to navigate within presentations or documents on the 21.5” high definition LCD panel. Thus it serves very well the needs in the educational business. Presenters and trainers benefit from the many opportunities only an interactive pen display can offer for multimedia lectures. Aside from the education segment, the new Wacom product has also received key response from other industry verticals like the medical sector, where doctors or dentists can write, draw or annotate on electronic medical records and thus communicate more effectively with their patients.
Alexander Maliyenko, Sales Director, Wacom Middle East says: “Technology has long been integrated into the education sector as it plays a critical role in honing the skills and knowledge of young people. Being adept at technology will give anyone unparalleled opportunities especially in today’s highly competitive world. GESS 2014 provided a venue for us to show how our high-end products and services can be utilized by the sector.”
