Abu Dhabi, UAE, 02 March, 2014: AVENUE AT ETIHAD TOWERS – Abu Dhabi’s first standalone luxury shopping destination – is pleased to announce that it is hosting a collection of paintings by renowned Greek artist, Takis Moraitis. The captivating pieces will be on exhibit from 2nd March until 15th March 2014 in the UAE capital.
Hailing from Cephalonia and Milos, Moraitis’ talent and passion for painting was recognised at an early age by renowned figures including, George Kouzounis, Spiros Vasilliou and Yannis Tsarouhis each of whom helped him to develop his own distinctive style through colours and lines.
Today, Moraitis’ work is inspired by the Ionian Islands and the Kyklades which form much of his landscape paintings that focus on the beautiful features of the Mediterranean incorporating the pure blue sky, the bright blazing sunlight and the charming white buildings. His distinctive style combines colour and light in a dramatic evocation of romantic settings.
Throughout his career, Moraitis has been recognised worldwide by exhibiting in countless locations including Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia and the Middle East, along with numerous personal exhibitions across Greece. His portfolio is also celebrated for decorating exclusive palaces across the Middle East, the Presidential Palace in Cyprus, the Cyprus State Gallery as well as the Municipality buildings of Piraeus, Crete and Syros.
Moraitis has been presented with a number of awards, including those from the International Academy of Dioskouri, Italy. Currently, Moraitis is building a special art center in the Plaka area of Athens where he plans to teach and host art enthusiasts that share a passion for painting Greek subjects.
