Kuwaiti shooters emerge victorious in finals of Fazza Championship for Shootingin Nad Al-Sheba

3 day Championship culminates in exciting displayof professional shooting

Dubai, 31 January, 2014:The finals of the Fazza Championship for Shooting in the Schuetzen rifle category saw some skilled display of shooting in both the men's and women's categories, thus bringing the curtain down on another successful edition of the shooting championships in Nad Al-Sheba in Dubai. A mix of Emirati and Arab contestants vied for the top spots over 3 days, but superior marksmanship earned the Kuwaiti men and women shooters a position in the finals.

The Fazza Championship for Shooting was organised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center under the patronage of HisHighness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

Kuwaiti shooter Mansour Al Rashidi won first place with 115 points in the men's category and was impressed with the overall level of the competition. He said: “The Fazza Championship for Shooting is very exclusiveand contestants displayed a high level of professional skill over the course of 3 days. Clay shooting is a challengingform of shooting and I was pleased that the competition tested my abilities as a shooter.”

Kuwaiti woman shooter Shahad Al Hawal who has been shooting professionally for eight years and is a regular at the Fazza Championship for Shooting, emerged victorious in the women's category. “I enjoyed participating in the Championships especially since shooting clay with the Schuetzen rifle is no mean feat. This is my third season at the Fazza Championships and I look forward to another exciting edition next year.”

The Barak Team emerged victorious in the competitive team challenge while the Nad Al-Sheba (NAS) won the second place. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammad bin Hasher Al Maktoum, Olympic shooter and the head of the organising committee of the Fazza Championship for Shooting congratulated the winners of the Championship for displaying precision and accuracy during the competition.

He said: “We witnessed an overwhelming response to the Championship this year. The competition between the Emirati and Kuwaiti shooters made it a more thrilling contest and we hope for more local participation in the future.

“I would particularly like to congratulate the UAE's very own NAS team for making the second place. They have worked hard and despite being fairly new have produced some very skilled shooters. I would like to congratulate all the winners and we hope to see them compete professionally again soon.”
