Mellors Group Events Brings Fantasy Island Fairground Concept to Global Village and the Middle East for the First Time

Innovative family focused event set to be a highlight for visitors during Eid Al Adha and across the 18th Season of operations
UAE, Dubai, 13 October, 2013: Global Village, Dubai's leading family entertainment and cultural attraction, has announced more details of the unique Fantasy Island funfair concept that the Mellors Events Group is bringing to the Middle East for the first time.
“Fantasy Island” is set to become one of the most popular attractions in Global Village during the forthcoming Eid Al Adha holiday period and across the whole 148-day season that will end on 1st March.
Featuring more than50 rides for adults, families and children the funfair attraction has been brought to Dubai by the UK-based Mellors Events Group who have a 100-year plus heritage in the fairground business.
Featuring classic wooden decking in a “Coney Island” style fairground environment the whole ambience and the range of rides and experiences will give families something to savour that has never been seen in the region.
Most of the rides are suitable for families and younger children including a Log Flume, Pirate Ride, roller coasters, traditional dodgem cars, a ghost train, trampolines, bungees and much more.
The more thrill based adult rides include the Sky Swing, Capriolo, Waltzer and others called Top Buzz, Speedway and Freak Out.
Global Village Executive Director of Operations Ahmed Hussain bin Essa said: “The new Fantasy Island concept brought by the Mellors Events Group to Dubai will create a superb atmosphere for the visitor who can participate in the many exciting and fun-packed rides on offer or simply walk around and take in the traditional fairground ambience that has been created.
“At Global Village we are always committed to partnering with the best in the world and are delighted that the Mellors Events Group from the UK is providing the experience for this season and I am sure our visitors will be delighted with what they have to enjoy.”
Prices for the fairground have been kept highly competitive with a number of rides starting from AED 10 and the average price of all rides about AED 20 or so with just a few of the more complex and challenging rides charging a higher price.

Opening hours during October will be:
Weekdays from 4pm to Midnight
Weekends from 4pm to 1am
During Eid in Dubai Festival from 10th to 19th October, 4pm to 2am
During Eid Al Adha on 15th and 16th October from 4pm to 3am

Located on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed highway for ease of access, the Global Village has parking space for 17,000 cars.
