Winning Artwork by UAE Schoolchildren to be Featured in the DIFF Calendar
Dubai, October 2nd, 2013: Continuing its dedication to community outreach and a spirit of welcoming input and creativity from all age groups, the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) has launched its sixth annual Painting Competition for UAE schoolchildren.
This year's theme is ‘My Favourite Film Moment.' Budding artists from around the Emirates are invited to submit a painting depicting their favourite film moment, be it the best scene from their favourite film, a treasured memory of a trip to the movies with family and friends, or fabulous memories from previous festivals.
Shivani Pandya, DIFF's Managing Director, expanded on the competition's aims: “We owe our ten years of growth to the amazing community that we are fortunate to be part of—with our Cinema for Children programming segment, we strive to acknowledge the youngest people in that community, the festivalgoers of the future. Children have a special outlook on the world. The Painting Competition is a celebration of that outlook, and allows us to share it with other guests in the form of our annual DIFF calendar.”
Twenty-four winners will receive invitations to the Cinema for Children Gala screening along with their families, and their works will be featured in the DIFF calendar. An additional 50 works will receive tickets to children's screenings, while all submissions will receive a certificate of participation.
Entries are open for students from 6-8 years, or from 9-12, to be submitted by their schools. The school with the highest participation rate will receive a special Certificate of Recognition.
DIFF's tenth edition of the Festival will take place from December 6 to 14, 2013.
Children will have until October 25, 2013 to submit their entries.
