Dubai, September 30th, 2013 – Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed financial communications specialist James Bishop to the role of Group Account Director at the Dubai office. Reporting directly to Mona Gauvreau, General Manager of the Dubai office, Bishop is specifically tasked with overseeing the agency's financial clients across the UAE. He has relocated to Dubai from London, where he worked with some of the City's leading financial and corporate communications agencies.
Bishop is an accredited public relations professional with 10 years of agency experience. He has developed and implemented strategies for a range of financial clients, with particular expertise across the asset management, pensions and insurance sectors. Bishop has also worked with many professional services firms, leading the communications for City law firms, leading UK mid-tier accountancy groups and actuarial firms.
“With on-going economic pressures, an increasingly competitive landscape and an almost constant stream of legislative updates, financial communications is becoming an increasingly specialised area,” said Mona Gauvreau, General Manager of the Dubai office. “The experience that James brings to the Gulf region is already enabling our financial clients to benefit from his insights”.
Before becoming a financial communications specialist, James spent many years as a journalist in the UK, where he worked in multimedia newsrooms covering television and radio news. He has also spent two years as a newspaper reporter.
Bishop graduated with a BA (honours) degree in English and History from the University of Leeds, before obtaining his NCTJ journalism qualification from the University of Wales, Cardiff. He is also a full member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) in the UK.
