Friends of the Police Summer Program Concludes in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, July 5th 2013 [ME NewsWire]: The “Friends of the Police” Program concluded its summer activities with the participation of 185 male and female students from the officers' children, aged between 7 and 17 years. The closing ceremony was held at the Abu Dhabi Officers Club and attended by Colonel ArifSaif Al Shamesi, Head of Clubs and Sports Activities Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ; Colonel Saif Saeed Al Shamesi, Head of the Cultural and Social Activities; as well as a number of officers, civilians and parents.
In his address during the ceremony held to honor participating children, Colonel Al Shamesi noted that the Clubs and Sports Activities Department provides three similar programs throughout the year for officers' children. The programs feature educational, sports, recreational and social activities. “The summer program saw the participation of male and female students aged between 7 and 17 years and ran for 12 days. Theactivities included water games competitions within the Police Officers' Club; a visit to the splash park at Khalifa Park; as well as training sessions for girls at the International Cooking Training Center through the ‘Young Chef Training Course', The girls also participated in the Abu Dhabi summer events held in ADNEC”, pointed out Al Shamesi.
Concluding, Al Shamesinoted that the “Friends of the Police” Program aims to exploit the leisure timeof officers' children usefully, as well as train them and develop their intellectual and sports skills.
