Dubai. Roads and Transport Authority. 17th June 2026:
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the 14th edition of the Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport 2026 has achieved exceptional momentum. The strong response highlights the award’s growing stature as one of the region’s foremost platforms for advancing innovation and sustainability in transport, attracting participants from across the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa.
The nomination window will remain open until Friday, 31st July, with RTA calling on eligible entities to complete their registration and showcase their prominent sustainable transport projects and initiatives.
Muna Al Osaimi, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at RTA and Chair of the Award Organising Committee, said the strong response reflects growing confidence in the award’s role as a catalyst for innovation and a platform for sharing expertise and best practices in sustainable mobility. She commended the level of engagement demonstrated by participating entities across various sectors.
The Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport is among RTA’s flagship initiatives, designed to promote sustainability principles and encourage the development of smart, environmentally responsible mobility solutions. It contributes to an integrated transport ecosystem that supports sustainable development targets and enhances quality of life.
The award is structured around four main categories: Elite, Sustainability, Inclusivity, and Innovation. It is open to government, semi-government and private-sector entities, as well as universities and schools across the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa, strengthening cross-sector collaboration in support of the future of sustainable mobility.
This edition has introduced significant enhancements, including restructured categories, new awards, and an expansion of the total number of awards to 12. These developments have broadened participation, enhanced the award’s knowledge and innovation impact, and reinforced its position as a leading regional platform for recognising outstanding projects and initiatives in sustainable transport.
The Sustainability category includes Pioneering Sustainable Cities Award, Outstanding Sustainable Fleet Award, Clean Energy for Mobility Award, and Urban Changemakers Award. The Inclusivity category includes Urban Flow Improvement Award, Safe Transport Award, First and Last Mile Award, and Transport for All Award. The Innovation category features Best Innovation in Transport Award, Outstanding Student Solutions Award, and NextGen for Mobility Award. The Elite category represents the highest level of recognition, with the award presented to the best entry across all categories.
Since its launch in 2008, the award has continued to evolve its mechanisms and evaluation criteria to keep pace with rapid transformations in the transport sector and emerging technologies, strengthening its profile and standing at local and regional levels.
The award plays a key role in the transport sector’s innovation ecosystem by attracting outstanding projects and ideas, supporting researchers, experts, and students, and inspiring research and development. This further strengthens Dubai’s position as a leading global hub for sustainable mobility.
