Statement by H.E. Dr. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, SLC Secretary General, On the 50th Anniversary of the Unification of UAE Armed Forces

May 05, 2026 - Today, we proudly commemorate a momentous milestone in our nation’s history - the 50th anniversary of the unification of the UAE Armed Forces. This historic achievement embodies the visionary leadership of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his fellow Founding Leaders. Their collective vision and unwavering resolve laid the foundation of a unified force dedicated to safeguarding the nation’s borders, protecting the accomplishments of the Union, and serving as a cornerstone of the UAE’s continued progress and prosperity.

This year’s occasion holds even greater significance as we celebrate fifty years since the unification of our Armed Forces. Over the past five decades, they have demonstrated exceptional valour, dedication, and sacrifice in defence of the homeland, while cementing the UAE Armed Forces’ position as a model of professionalism, readiness, and excellence.

On this cherished national occasion, the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC) expresses its pride in the outstanding achievements of our Armed Forces since unification. We also renew our pledge of loyalty to our wise leadership, reaffirm our deep sense of belonging to our homeland, and stand united behind our Armed Forces as they continue to safeguard the nation’s achievements and support its development journey.
