Held in line with the Panasonic Green Impact initiative, coastal clean-up yields 175kg of debris while concurrent mangrove project gets 170 new saplings planted
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Panasonic Marketing Middle East & Africa (PMMAF) continues to ramp up its corporate sustainability efforts with the recent conduct of Mangrove Kayaking & Planting and Beach Clean-up in Al Zorah Nature Reserve in Ajman. Held in line with the Panasonic Green Impact campaign, the initiative wrapped up with 175kg debris removed from the coastal environment of the nature reserve, thus protecting marine and wildlife, while helping restore the pristine beauty of the emirate’s beaches. At the same time, a total of 170 mangrove trees were planted, this in support to the UAE government’s enhanced target to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030.
Since its founding more than 100 years ago, Panasonic has consistently strived to improve the quality of people’s lives when conducting its business. In line with its commitment to the net-zero climate impact and to reaching Panasonic Environmental Vison 2050, the Panasonic Green Impact initiative was launched globally last year with an aim to contribute to society-wide reductions in CO2 emissions by switching customers to energy-saving products and supplying energy-saving solutions and green energy technologies to B2B/B2G customers.
Since 1988 Panasonic has also been running the "Panasonic ECO RELAY" initiative where employees connect with one another through eco actions. The company has promoted activities aimed at encouraging its employees and their families to raise environmental awareness through their positive environmental actions in home and local communities, and improving their lifestyles. PMMAF’s activity in UAE also ticks the box for Panasonic ECO RELAY participation this year.
Hiroyuki Shibutani – Managing Director, PMMAF, said: "This initiative embodies Panasonic’s strong commitment to establishing harmonious relationships between the people and their natural and social environments. With our long history of innovations that make the world a better place for everyone, we at Panasonic believe that we can only continue to deliver on this promise by taking direct actions that counteract the effects of climate change on our planet, and thus restore the hope of a fulfilling life for future generations. These actions also reflect the spirit of the new brand motto Create Today. Enrich Tomorrow.”
He added that Panasonic has also been diligent in building strategic partnerships with all stakeholders, as well as collaborating with like-minded organizations, not only to make a positive impact on the environment but also to promote a culture of ecological responsibility amongst stakeholders, including employees, investors, consumers, and communities.
Panasonic collaborated with a CSR activation agency for the Mangrove Kayaking & Planting and Beach Clean-up project. Around 64 PMMAF employees and their families took time out of their weekend to gather at the nature reserve of Al Zorah to collect trash from the beach and plant mangrove seedlings.
“We adhere to a forward-looking vision and we commit to continuously seek ways to improve it further and make sure that we don’t pass society’s current ills on to future generations. By preserving the beauty of the planet, protecting biodiversity and regenerating nature, we are able to keep a truly amazing source of innovation, helping us move towards a sustainable and enriching tomorrow,” Shibutani concluded.
