Dubai, February 6, 2021: Six falconry teams are participating in the Sheikhs Category of the UAE Falconers League, a collaboration between the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) and Abu Dhabi Falconers Club.
The participating teams are al Dhafra, "F3", Baynunah, "M7", "F3-S" and Al Naif. Two rounds will happen at Dubai’s Al Ruwayyah desert area on February 9-10 and the next two rounds will take place in Abu Dhabi on February 17 and 18. The final round will be held in Abu Dhabi on February 19. The announcement was made during the 9th edition of Fakhr Al Ajyal (Pride of Generations) Falconry Championship today, Thursday, 4th February.
Sultan Al Mahmoud, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Falconers Club and Chairman of the Joint Organising Committee of the UAE Falconers League, said: “The league was launched under the guidance and support of the wise leadership, and we are pleased to include the Sheikhs Category to add more strength and contribute to the promotion of the sport of falconry. We have looked forward to, since last year, in the first edition, the creation of the largest number of competitions, as we started with the General Public category and we have the same rule to have four main falcons plus 8 reserves.”
Rashid bin Markhan, Deputy CEO of HHC and Vice-Chairman of the Organising Committee, added: “Having additional category is a positive step for the Championship as we have seen how it has grown rapidly and extensively through the years. We have expanded the number of categories and matches to welcome more participants across the country.”
Meanwhile, the matches in the General Public will continue on Friday (February 5) at the ongoing 9th edition of Fakhr Al Ajyal (Pride of Generations) Falconry Championship, organised by the HHC at Dubai’s Al Ruwayyah desert area.
