Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 16, 2020: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has introduced a contactless eWallet payment option for customers of DHA health facilities, making it the first government organization in Dubai to implement this smart payment option.
DHA has partnered with Digital Financial Services LLC, a joint venture of Etisalat and Noor Bank that was acquired earlier this year by Dubai Islamic Bank, to enable secure and contactless payment options for eWallet customers.
With this partnership, eWallet customers will be able to use their eWallet balance for making payments at Dubai Health Authority (DHA) hospitals, clinics and medical fitness centres. By using eWallet, customers will enjoy an array of benefits from special offers to a secure and contactless payment facility.
Rashid Hospital would be the first facility to go live, followed by all other DHA facilities.
At the launch of the eWallet payment system, His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority confirmed the authority's keenness to fully implement the Dubai Paperless Strategy and its key objectives.
The Strategy was launched in February 2018 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. It seeks to eliminate the use of paper from all internal operations and customer facing services across Dubai government entities by the end of 2021.
His Excellency said that Dubai is a pioneer with its vision, ideas and innovative initiatives that encompass all walks of life. He said that the Authority works with all its strategic partners to be at the forefront of the institutions implementing these transformations in line with its goals and priorities to enhance Dubai's excellence and to achieve people's satisfaction, confidence and happiness.
Ahmed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Joint Corporate Support Services at the DHA said, “It is our aim to provide high-quality care to patients in a highly efficient and convenient environment and this technology helps provide patients with a contactless payment service which is secure and is in line with the smart payment options.”
Ahmed Al Awadi, Chairman of Digital Financial Services, said: “eWallet continues to be at the forefront of innovation as more UAE residents experience the benefits of a secure and contactless payment method, even more so during these unprecedented times. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our customers remains a top priority for us. Our partnership with Dubai Health Authority demonstrates our commitment towards providing a safe and secure environment for consumers by providing an instant and cashless payments ecosystem, further enriching our consumers with a state-of-the-art customer service experience.”
Regulated and licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE, eWallet is a revolutionary digital payment service aimed at empowering the UAE residents with safe, convenient and flexible payment solutions through an easy-to-use eWallet mobile app.
Unlike other mobile wallets and payment apps, a unique feature of eWallet is that there is no need to have a bank account, credit or debit card to do digital payments. Customers need a valid Emirates ID and a UAE mobile number to open an eWallet account. Once registered, users can instantly top up their wallet balance and start sending and receiving money between mobile phones, transfer to own or third-party bank accounts, and do merchant payments, bill payments, and mobile recharges.
