Sharjah, August 29, 2019: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), represented by Sharjah Medical District, announced that it has added 7 new services to the list of services provided by the primary health care centers.
These services include cervical screening, colon cancer screening, Itmenan service, premarital screening, medical examination for residency, pilgrims’ health service and the inauguration of evening dental clinics.
The new services are part of MoHAP’s strategy in terms of providing high-quality healthcare services that meet society needs.
A Series of Integrated Healthcare
H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al-Rand, Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Health Assistant Sector, Health Centers and Clinics, said: “This package of new healthcare services is part of a series of the integrated healthcare provided by MoHAP. Through these services, we aim to reinforce our people’s health and happiness, as part of MoHAP’s concerted efforts to update its medical facilities and to simplify patients and visitors’ access to the primary and specialized medical services.”
Al Rand shed light on MoHAP’s efforts to furnish the medical centers with the latest medical equipment and the competent medical and nursing staff, in addition to applying the international accreditation standards to the operational plans.
“These efforts underline MoHAP’s commitment to providing sophisticated healthcare services based on national performance indicators and standards, towards the implementation of the best practices in accordance with the highest innovative standards,” Al Rand added.
Qualitative and Integrated Services
Dr. Ameera Al Khaja, Primary Health Care Director, Sharjah, said that MoHAP’s constant support has contributed to launching enormous health services. This comes as part of MoHAP’s directives to make the primary health care centers able to provide qualitative and integrated services with a view to reducing patients’ waiting time and providing comprehensive and regular services for the early detection and treatment of non-communicable diseases (diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol) as per the best scientific evidence.
Al Khaja stressed that all the medical centers are well-prepared to provide these services, besides the quality training of the technical and administrative staff.
Five Medical Centers Recently Obtained Accreditation
In a different context, Al Khaja revealed that Sharjah’s primary health care centers are working on establishing sub-working groups of the main committee assigned to follow up the enhancement of services quality at health care centers in line with the JCI’s accreditation requirements. This comes after the success of five centers in obtaining the accreditation.
She noted that these sub-committees aim to apply the JCI’s accreditation standards to all primary health care centers, in line with the highest standards. The scope of work of these committees includes monitoring and evaluation of the quality of sterilization rooms, medical waste, cleaning and prevention rooms, laboratories as well as other health services provided.
