Dubai, 24th January 2019: The UAE Ministry of Education is participating at the world’s largest educational technology event, BETT show running from 23 to 26 January 2019, to showcase its innovative educational technology platforms and programs in the presence of 34,000 attendees from 136 countries and more than 12,000 leaders within the education sector. The Ministry is also launching it’s ‘Study in the UAE’ campaign to promote the UAE as a prime destination for international students to pursue their degrees in acclaimed UAE based universities.
The ‘Study in the UAE’ campaign kicked off in collaboration with eight premier UAE public and private universities including Khalifa University, Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Sharjah University, Zayed University, Ajman University, Abu Dhabi University and Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) that exhibited all their programs and unique offerings at the Ministry of Education pavilion.
Education is a key pillar in the UAE 2021 vision and the UAE Centennial 2071 and the Ministry of Education is focused on adopting innovative technology and investing in state-of-the-art systems and platforms to help deliver an exceptional education system. With over AED 10.25 billion committed to education in the UAE in 2019 alone, now is the perfect time to share the campaign with prospective students, raising awareness of both the world class universities in the UAE, and the unmatched intercultural and innovative experiences that make the country a globally recognized nation.
On the Ministry’s participation at BETT, H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education said: “The UAE’s leadership have set strategic priorities to pave the way for us to become one of the most innovative countries in the world and lead across various sectors. The Ministry has put forward the National Strategy for Higher Education 2030, which is set out to build the highest scientific and professional education standards in the UAE and provide future generations with the necessary technical and practical skills to drive a sustainable economy. The UAE is also home to more than 70 accredited universities of which eight UAE universities have been featured within the QS World University Rankings® 2019.”
He added, “The UAE is an attractive destination for youth and students as in addition to its renowned educational offerings, it is one of the safest and happiest countries in the world with so much to offer them. Students can experience the rich Emirati culture and get to enjoy some of the best destinations and record-breaking attractions whilst staying at the UAE.”
H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al Mualla, Undersecretary for Higher Education Academic Affairs at the Ministry said: “The UAE Higher Education Strategy is made up of four pillars: quality, relevance, innovation and efficiency, and through the ‘Study in the UAE’ campaign, we hope to showcase our prestigious higher education system that qualifies us to be a leading global education for students looking to pursue their degrees. The Ministry is working closely with its partners from higher education institutions in the country to attract the best students from across the world to study in the UAE.”
The Ministry is undergoing an educational transformation to ensure technologies that have recently emerged are integrated into a student’s education journey and they are accustomed to using them. Several smart online platforms have been developed by the Ministry of Education to help create a seamless experience for students. The nation as a whole has a commitment to innovation and technology, with examples including:
- UAE is the first nation with a government minister dedicated to AI
- Plans are underfoot for the world’s first blockchain-powered government
- Dubai has even started testing the introduction of a robotic policeman
H.E. Eng. Abdul Rahman Al Hammad, Undersecretary of quality and support services at Ministry of Education said: “For the past few years we have undergone a digital transformation and enhanced our curriculum and teaching methods to meet 21st century requirements. With the use of technology our teaching methods have changed and our classrooms have become more engaging and interesting to students. BETT has given us the opportunity to inform the public about the education on offer in the UAE and how technology is being used to enhance its students’ education journey through smart learning and artificial intelligence (AI). The Ministry has also introduced fourth industrial revolution (4IR) technologies such as robotics and blockchain into its education system in its efforts of keeping pace with the futuristic technologies and building its capacities of students in them.”
The Ministry also established a Data Centre which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business Intelligence (BI) to foresee trends, predict student’s development and behavior, analyze data, generate statistics and set indicators that guide decision makers on the best approach to further develop the education system. The insights received from the experts that analyze data help the Ministry’s leaders make smart well-informed decisions backed up by data.
The Ministry has launched several initiatives to promote innovation and equip students with the skills of tomorrow such as robotics training camp, VEX Robotics Championship and innovation Ambassadors. It has also created 11 FabLabs across its schools to motivate students to become innovators and entrepreneurs.
BETT London will see the participation of 800 leading innovative education technology providers and offer sessions led by industry experts and pre-arranged business meetings that provide learning, networking opportunities and new business leads to attendees.
