DCT Abu Dhabi launches a new annual season on Abu Dhabi's calendar, the Retail Abu Dhabi (RAD) Season

Abu Dhabi, 23 December 2018 –   The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced the imminent launch of its Retail Abu Dhabi (RAD) Season, a new annual retail and shopping season which will run across the capital. Taking place from 26th December 2018 to 5th February 2019, visitors and residents alike will have the chance to enjoy ‘Really Awesome Deals’ throughout the city, with incredible offers from dozens of retailers in malls and shopping centres, restaurants, events and hotels across the emirate. 

 

“The new RAD Season initiative is the perfect reason for residents and tourists alike to get out into the capital and start shopping,” said HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Undersecretary at DCT Abu Dhabi. “All offerings presented in the season bring unbeatable deals to inter-emirate visitors to visit Abu Dhabi and plan for a perfect staycation. Our malls and retail establishments are some of the finest in the world, and are an important facet of Abu Dhabi’s economic growth.  We trust that these incredible shopping, events, dining and hospitality offers will encourage people to participate and enjoy these deals.”

 

As part of RAD Season, DCT Abu Dhabi along with its partners in the retail sector launched ‘Code Red Sale’ campaign which brings more than 650 participating retailers and 18 malls, and which will see shoppers enjoying discounts of up to 90% off normal retail prices as well as deals such as buy-one-get-one free at participating stores. Participants will also have the opportunity to win daily, weekly and monthly prizes at select malls.

There will also be special meal deals and discounts at food establishments. Beyond retail and dining, there will also be deals on offer for phenomenal hospitality packages, as well as an exciting calendar of events taking place across the city throughout the RAD Season. From 26th December 2018 to 5th February 2019, Abu Dhabi will host a wide range of world class events. This includes the recurring Mubadala Tennis Championship from 27th – 29th of December featuring top players including world number one Novak Djokovic, world number two Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams will take on older sister, Venus, on the opening day of the Championship, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship from 16th  to 19th of January is set to kick off and unites the biggest champions in the world for 4 days of high intensity competition, from  5th of  January to 1st of February marks the return of the AFC Asian Cup tournament to the UAE to crown the football champions of Asia featuring 24 teams competing together over 51 games, Liwa Sport Festival from 27th of December to 4th of Jan, and the Russian Music Festival from 31st of December to 8th of January as the capital will host 30 performers with 14 concert programme. In addition to the Bayreuth Festival’s international opera debut of Richard Wagner’s The Valkyrie under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, from 20th of January to 1st of February at Emirates Palace.
