Ministry of Tourism in Oman announces Eid Al-Adha events in all governorates of the Sultanate and launches special tourist offers and packages

August 16, 2018: Ministry of Tourism in Oman has announced that it will organize recreational activities across all its governorates during Eid Al Adha, as part of its effort to achieve Oman’s tourism strategy goals (2040), aimed at promoting economic diversification, creating employment opportunities, attracting investments, enhancing the value and sustainability of natural and cultural monuments and preserving the heritage and environment of the country. Locals and tourists will be able to take part in a series of cultural festivals beginning with the Silver Jubilee Park in Sohar, on the second day of Eid Al-Adha and the Al Rustaq Castle Theater in South Al Batinah on the second, third and fourth day of Eid. In the governorate of Dhofar, another event will be held at Etienne Land, as well as 2-4 days of Eid al-Adha and Musandam. The Eid celebration will be held at Khasab Cultural Sports Club in Khasab State during the third day of Eid. Lulu in the state of Abra. In addition, the festival will be held in the governorate of the interior in the Azqi General Park during the 2-4 days of Eid al-Adha in the state of Azqi. A heritage festival will be held in Al-Dhahirah governorate in Ibri province during the second day of Al-Adha Eid.
The campaign, launched by the Ministry and in cooperation with Oman Air and Holiday Me, aims to establish Oman as a preferred destination for short holidays for tourists from the region and a vacation destination for tourists from around the world, taking the country to the top of the global tourist map by 2040. The campaign focuses on highlighting the unique cultural attractions of the Sultanate, as well as the attractive landmarks and historical sites that embody the rich heritage of the Sultanate, at the regional and local levels.
The campaign includes special discounts on airline tickets and accommodation that encourage tourists to visit Oman and soak in its rich culture and traditions. These discount packages are part of the ministry’s efforts to strengthen tourism in the country by forging partnerships between the public and private sectors in various tourism related fields.
Haitham bin Mohammed Al Ghassani, Assistant Director General for Tourism Events and Awareness at the Ministry of Tourism stressed the pioneering role played by the ministry in cooperation with various stakeholders, to enhance the Sultanate's position on the regional and international tourism map by highlighting different areas that reflect the local culture and heritage of Oman.
He said: “We are continuously working to highlight the Sultanate’s position as an ideal destination for leisure activities as well as for important events and world championships. Oman’s natural beauty has been attracting an increasing number of tourists from the region and from around the world and we are confident that our tourist-friendly initiatives will go a long way in bolstering its growing global repute as a holiday destination of choice. The new campaign complements the previous marketing campaigns carried out by the Ministry, which aims to promote the country’s tourist and natural attractions, placing it in an advantageous position for achieving the national tourism strategy and increasing tourism’s contribution to GDP to 10 per cent, by 2040.”
