The miraculous birth at German Medical Center

This is the story of an Emirati lady who had given birth to a baby at 43 after having three recurrent abortions and beating severe medical conditions. Mrs Ekhlas Mohammed tells us her experience in her own words.

 

I’m Mrs Ekhlas Mohammed, and I had a late marriage at 40.  I was under the impression that I had no specific medical conditions to be worried about, other than excessive uterine bleeding, until I was diagnosed with a range of severe gynaecological conditions such as Endometriosis (development of uterine-lining tissue outside the uterus), Adenomyosis (abnormal presence of endometrial tissue within the uterus), and Benign Tumors of the Uterus.

 

We had consulted a number of specialists in UAE. However, no one could really help me. A series of drugs, needles, testing, and three failed pregnancies in two years made me go through unimaginable pain. I was exhausted. I started losing hope of having a baby and went through a roller coaster of emotions after the emotional and physical impacts of repeated abortions.

 

That is when my husband and I decided to seek the assistance of a visiting Gynecologist, Prof. Mettler, at German Medical Center FZ-LLC. We met Prof. Mettler and an excellent team of doctors, nurses, and other support staff in a very welcoming and encouraging environment where we felt very comfortable.

 

Prof. Mettler recommended for Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy with dilatation and curettage. Everything went normal, without any complication, and I spent days in a wandering mind. My husband and I gave ourselves some time to heal and eventually decided to try again. I was five days late in my cycle, and I went ahead with a pregnancy test. I was taken by surprise as I saw that double pink lines instantaneously on the test! Again, my journey to hope and motherhood began.

 

I was so afraid it wouldn't happen, or something would go wrong. However, I have received the very best care for all those 40 weeks from Prof. Mettler and Dr. Amaya, and other support staff at German Medical Center FZ-LLC. Our rainbow baby arrived, safe and healthy and beating all the odds, after a cesarean section. It was the best cry we have ever heard in our lives and we named the baby, Dubai.

 

I just don’t want to sum it up as a mere miracle, rather, a committed effort and expertise of my doctors, the effective use of the latest technology, the compassionate care provided by the nursing and other support staff, and my everlasting faith in God.

 

I wish to say to all the women out there dealing with a miscarriage, don't lose hope. Miracles can happen, and you have to go through a storm to get to your rainbow.
