Ministry of Health & Prevention announces Visiting Doctors Program for February 2018

UAE, February 11, 2018 - The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced the details of the Visiting Doctors Program, scheduled to take place in February 2018, to provide diagnostic, therapeutic and treatment services to Fujairah Hospital, Al Qassimi Hospital and Khorfakkan Hospital in their various fields of expertise, including pediatric rheumatology, neurosurgery, spinal surgery, gastroenterology, endocrinology for children, neonatology and pediatric ophthalmology.
Dr. Eustis, a pediatric ophthalmologist at Ochsner Health Systems - the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in New Orleans in the United States will be visiting Al Qassimi Hospital from February 11 to 15, 2018. Dr. Eustis completed his medical degree and ophthalmology training from the Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He then pursued fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in specialized centers in the US and Canada. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. His areas of expertise include strabismus, premature retinopathy, pediatric cataract, and refractive problems.
Dr. Michael Levine, Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Medical Director of the Center for Bone Health at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, US will be visiting Al Qassimi Hospital from February 18 to 22, 2018, as part of the program. He completed his medical education at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and his Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, before pursuing a dual fellowship in Endocrinology/Metabolism and Genetics at the National Institute of Health in Maryland. His areas of expertise include endocrine diseases that affect bone and mineral metabolism, particularly osteoporosis, primary hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, rickets and genetic bone disease.
Dr. Kevin Dysart will be visiting Fujairah Hospital on February 25 and 26 as part of the program to offer his expertise in newborn lung diseases in both term and preterm infants and therapies directed at improving outcomes. He is currently the Associate Medical Director of the Newborn/Infant Intensive Care Unit and an Attending Neonatologist with the Division of Neonatology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He completed his medical graduation from the Hahneman University, Philadelphia, and residency from the Thomas Jefferson University and DuPont Hospital for Children, Philadelphia. He later pursued Fellowship in Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine from the Thomas Jefferson University and Christiana Care Health System, Wilmington, Delaware, US.
Dr. Kathleen Sullivan, who previously visited the Al Qassimi Women’s and Children Hospital, is the Chief of the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed her medical graduation and residency from the University of California, San Francisco, US. She also pursued a Fellowship in Immunology and Rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, US. Her areas of expertise include genetics of SLE, care of immune deficient patients and protection of immunologically vulnerable patients.
Dr. Jang Jee Soo, who has also visited Al Qassimi Hospital earlier as part of the program, is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Department of Neurosurgery, Suwon Nanoori Hospital in South Korea. He completed his medical training and completed his PhD in medical sciences from the Chuang-Ung University, South Korea. His areas of expertise include complex multiplanar spinal deformities and minimally invasive spinal surgeries.
Dr. Lee Keun is a Consultant Spine Surgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Incheon Nanoori Spine Hospital, South Korea. He completed his medical education and pursued his Masters in Neurosurgery at Gachon Medical School, South Korea. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive spine surgery, lumbar spine stenosis and instability, and endoscopic spine surgery. Dr Lee Keun recently visited Al Qassimi Hospital to offer his expertise as part of the Visiting Doctors Program for February 2018.
Dr. Asim Maqbool, who visited the Khorfakkan Hospital recently as part of the program, is a board certified pediatric gastroenterologist and a nutrition pediatrician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is also the Co-Director of the hospital’s Center for Pancreatic Disorders. He completed his medical graduation from the George Washington University, Washington DC and residency in pediatrics from the Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit. He pursued Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore and Nutrition Research at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, John Hopkins University. His areas of expertise include general GI diseases, nutritional and growth issues, pancreatic diseases, pancreatitis, pancreatic insufficiency, cystic fibrosis, failure to thrive, feeding and swallowing disorders, common and complex gastroesophageal reflux diseases and 22q Deletion Syndrome.
