Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority promoted latest smart services applications during GITEX Technology Week 2017

Sharjah, October 14, 2017: Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) participated in the GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2017 in Sharjah, organised by the Sharjah eGovernment under the slogan "History and Communication".
HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, emphasised that the Authority was keen to participate in GITEX Technology Week for the fourth year in a row based on the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Midfa further noted that this yearly exhibition, which brought together the world's leading experts in technology, is extremely important in introducing the latest global developments in technology and information to the region and the Authority was eager to assimilate new methods of promoting the Emirate of Sharjah and introducing its landmarks and tourism elements in the most modern and sophisticated ways.
SCTDA showcased the latest applications for smartphones at this year’s event, highlighting Sharjah's new Mobile App, Virtual Reality, which enables visitors to immerse themselves in short promotional films about the emirate of Sharjah.
In addition, the Authority utilised the platform provided by GITEX to spotlight ‘Virtual Dressing’, new interactive technology which allows tourists to experience traditional Emirati clothing and take souvenir images with digital activation. This new feature offers a variety of picture backgrounds, a collection of the emirate’s most prominent tourism elements, to be transposed behind the user.
SCTDA also took the opportunity to launch its new website, detailing the information and services provided by the Authority in order to smoothly facilitate transactions and procedures with partners of the tourism and hotel sectors in the Emirate. As part of its strategy to meet the needs of the tourism sector according to the highest standards and stay up to date with technological advances, the Authority continually develops and renews electronic services, adds new services and electronic applications throughout the year.
GITEX technology week is the region's largest IT exhibition, bringing together technology leaders, future influencers, business leaders and technology experts from around the world to experience and master the most advanced technology and drive digital transformation. Over 4,000 exhibitors and more than 147,000 visitors are expected to participate in the event this year.
