Capital Club to Host Exclusive Dinners featuring Michelin Star Chef, Augusto Valzelli
Last Update: Tuesday, October 10, 2017 : 15:41 (+4GMT)
10 October 2017, Dubai: Capital Club, Dubai’s leading private business club, is proud to announce the arrival of guest Chef Augusto Valzelli – the youngest Michelin Star recipient in Italy – who will host a series of exclusive dinners from 13th – 21st of October.
An old childhood friend of Capital Club’s Head Chef Enrico Paiola, Augusto joins us all the way from Bescia to collaborate with Enrico and treat Capital Club members to a delectable business lunch for one week only. There will also be four special nights (13th-14th & 20th-21st October) where both members and non-members will be able to enjoy a 7-course tasting menu from his restaurant ‘La porta Antica’, prepared by Augusto himself. His technique in Italian cuisine is the very epitome of authenticity whilst still introducing modern techniques and presentation.
Augusto’s love of cooking began at the very ripe age of 11 when he first participated in his church’s masterclass. It was the baking of bread, pizza and focaccia that really sparked his passion though and he followed this all the way to university. Upon graduating, Augusto would work with the likes of Chef Davide Botta (a member of J.R.E, CHIC leader and owner of a Michelin star) and Chef Andrea Sarri (President of J.R.E. and possessor of a Michelin star). In December of 2014, Augusto’s career would hit another milestone with the move to "Agrodolce Restaurant" in Imperia. It was in this restaurant in November 2015, that Augusto was recognised by the Michelin Guide and granted one star – making him the youngest Italian to hold this honor at just 23.
Some of the dishes from the 7-course menu that will be showcased include slow bathed San Remo violet shrimps in a raspberry pink sauce; peach & ginger marinated tuna tartar with amaretti crumb; langoustine risotto with Grana Padano ice cream and pan-fried seabass with pickled red cabbage & saffron veloute.
Augusto said, “It’s an honour to be working with the team at Capital Club to showcase my creations to their members and the people of Dubai. What I hope to demonstrate to the guests is the level of passion I put into all my dishes through each and every carefully selected flavour.” He continued, “While presentation is very important, the flavour is what springs emotions and feelings in a client.”
Ian Palmer, General Manager, Capital Club Dubai: “I am thrilled to welcome Chef Augusto Valzelli to the Capital Club to entice Dubai with his delectable dishes.” He added, “We hope members and non-members alike enjoy this little piece of Italy that we’ve brought in.”
With special thanks to the West Contemporary Collective, the Capital Club will be decorated with a unique collection of limited edition prints designed exclusively as a celebration of Chef Augusto’s arrival. The art series, ‘Starchaser Suite’, celebrates and combines the glamour of three iconic Italian stars of the past - Verna Lisi, Gina Lollabrigida and Claudia Cardinale - using a rustic feel of authentic Italian craftsmanship within the prints. The imagery used in this special collection mirrors the authenticity in Valzelli’s cooking, as it upholds a classic feel and is produced with traditional screen-printing techniques, yet the pop colours and modern overlays present a more contemporary aesthetic.
There will be nine A1 limited edition prints available, printed on Somerset Satin paper, and blind embossed stamped with the West Contemporary logo. Each print is an edition of 23, the age Augusto was when he received his Michelin star, along with a set of three along with a set of three artist proofs (the most Michelin stars a single restaurant can earn). The prints are available at the Capital Club individually at AED 2,400 each or AED 19,800 for the set of nine.
There are a limited number of spaces available each night for non-members who are interested, so be sure to book ahead.
