UAE-IAA organises series of activities during International Internal Audit Awareness Month

Abdulqader Obaid Ali: Internal auditing plays key role in enhancing UAE’s competitiveness

UAE ranked among world’s 10 most competitive economies

DUBAI, July 10, 2017:  Joining the global internal auditors’ fraternity to promote the internal audit profession, the UAE Internal Auditors Association (IAA) organised a series of awareness activities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi during the International Internal Audit Awareness Month. 

The activities included roundtables, workshops and seminars, conducted across government and private sectors throughout the UAE. 

Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chairman, UAE-IAA, said: “UAE’s ranking among the world’s top 10 most competitive economies indicates the economy’s strength in terms of business efficiencies and productivity and internal audit plays a crucial role in enhancing these efficiencies. As the economy continues to grow strongly, the role of internal auditing is also increasing. The UAE-IAA organises awareness activities round the year, particularly during the International Internal Audit Awareness Month, when we focused on generating awareness across government and private sectors of the value that internal audit brings to them.”

Among the main activities that were organised included a Joint Professional Development Seminar in collaboration between UAE IAA and ICAI – Abu Dhabi Chapter in Abu Dhabi, UAE IAA 1st joint sub-groups event between Construction, Media and Hospitality Sub-groups in Dubai, IIA Lebanon’s Internal Audit Forum 2017, IA Awareness Session at Khalifa University, Petroleum Institute and UAE IAA held in Abu Dhabi, 3rd Internal Audit Government Forum 2017 with Dubai Aviation City Corporation in Dubai, IA Awareness Session – New York Institute of 

Technology Abu Dhabi, UAE IAA 2nd Joint sub-groups event between IT, Fraud and Governance Sub-groups in Dubai and IA Awareness Session at Khalifa University.

During the International Internal Audit Awareness Month, internal audit associations worldwide organise activities promoting the profession to their audit customers, executive management, boards of directors as well as students and business community in general.
