UAE, March 15, 2017– DuPont Protection Solutions (DuPont), maker of the famous and original DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber, launched further enhancements to its established Kevlar® XP and XD Technologies for soft armor at IDEX 2017.
With over 1 million vests sold, Kevlar® XP enhanced technology offers superior stopping power with fewer layers, blocking bullets early to limit back face deformation and impact trauma, while providing better performance against fragments (V50). In addition, XP materials are lightweight to improve wearer comfort.
Kevlar® XD technology offers the best in class unidirectional (UD) structures, with superior balance of performance and protection per unit weight, as well as reduced impact injury. XD structures also are flexible and lightweight, allowing for comfortable sort armor gear.
When used together in soft armor gear, Kevlar® XP and XD technologies provide exceptional balance of protection, comfort and trauma reduction for military and police. Moreover, by hybridizing Kevlar® XP and XD solutions, designers can explore endless possibilities to leverage the benefits of both technologies and can provide cost-effective solutions as well as offer multiple-threat protection against various calibers and fragments.
Lohit Shringi, global marketing manager for DuPont Life Protection, stated, “Ongoing research by DuPont has identified solutions tailored to the current threats faced by police and military personnel. Our expertise in life protection is based on more than 50 years of innovation and collaboration with DuPont™ Kevlar®, enabling us to respond with new offerings and enhanced technology platforms that offer today’s armor manufacturers the opportunity to design the right solution for their customers’ needs.
