United Arab Emirates, Dubai, December 19, 2016: The Dubai Health Authority reaccredited UpToDate, an evidence-based, physician-authored clinical decision support resource which clinicians can use to make the right point-of-care decisions.
This means that approximately 12000 DHA staff members have online access to this resource and can use it as a means on online continuing medical education.
DHA staff can log in and find the latest information on patient education, drug interactions, latest news and updates about the medical field, Practice Changing Updates etc.
Dr Jamila Al Shaikh, Director of Medical Education at the DHA, said: “In the health sector keeping abreast with the latest information, updates, new guidelines etc. is of vital importance and much-needed for clinicians and other healthcare staff. At the DHA, we pay strong emphasis to continuing medical education (CME) and aim to strengthen and foster a culture of CME through such initiatives. Using technology we can now provide clinicians such information on their screens so that they can view it regularly and at their convenience.”
Accreditation Committee in the Professional Development Center at the request of the Learning Resource Center at the Medical Education Department approved the accreditation with the statement: ”UpToDate site is accredited as an Internet Point of Care Activity equivalent to 0.5 CME online points, a medical professional learning can acquire”.
Globally UpToDate topics are viewed more than 26 million times per month. More than 6,300 world-renowned physician authors, editors, and peer reviewers use a rigorous editorial process to synthesize the most recent medical information into trusted, evidence-based recommendations which are available on UptoDate. More than 1.1 million clinicians in 180 countries and almost 90% of academic medical centers in the United States use UpToDate.
