Dubai, United Arab Emirates, November 28, 2016:  The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) hospitals and health centre received an international accreditation for the fourth time in a row.

Latifa Hospital, Dubai Hospital and Rashid Hospital earned Joint Commission International's Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation and Thalassemia Centre earned Joint Commission International's ( JCIs) Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Care Accreditation for the fourth time in a row.  Airport Medical Centre earned JCI's Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Care Accreditation for the third time in a row. The hospitals and health centres received the accreditation for demonstrating continuous compliance with JCI's internationally recognized standards.

The hospitals and health centres underwent a rigorous on-site survey in order to qualify for the reaccreditation. During the survey, a team of Joint Commission International expert surveyors evaluated compliance with hospital standards related to a variety of areas, including the International Patient Safety Goals, patient assessment and care, anaesthesia and surgical care, medication management, patient and family education, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, governance and leadership, facility management, staff qualifications and education, and information management.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA said that this achievement reflects the Authority's commitment to fulfil the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to ensure that all hospitals in Dubai are internationally accredited 

Presently 80 per cent of all hospitals in Dubai have international accreditations and the remaining are in the process of obtaining the same.

Al Qatami, said: “Healthcare is an ever-evolving field and it is important to not only meet high-quality standards but also to raise the bar and exceed them in line with continuous developments in the medical field. International accreditations help hospital benchmark themselves so that they continue to provide high quality and excellence services in an ever-evolving healthcare environment. The reaccreditations that the DHA's health facilities have received, reflects our commitment to provide excellent health care services while ensuring patient safety.”

 “Joint Commission International accreditation provides hospitals and ambulatory care organizations with the processes contributing to improvements in a variety of areas from the enhancement of staff education to the demonstration of leading practices within the hospital and ambulatory setting,” 

Dr. Ahmad Kalban CEO of hospital services sector at the DHA said: “DHA will continue applying the best international excellence standards in the healthcare services field to ensure that Dubai continues to provide high quality care to its population and visitors. DHA hospitals and special centres obtained international accreditation pursuant to the latest global standards. These standards are constantly updated in line with developments in the medical field.”
