- Customer preference shifts to bigger screens of 55-inch and above
Dubai, UAE, October 17, 2016: Sony Middle East and Africa posted strong sales figures for its TV category during the recently concluded Gitex Shopper 2016 held at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
During Gitex Shopper, Sony showcased its entire line-up from 43-inch up to 75-inch models including its premium 4K HDR models – the Sony X85D and X93D Bravia range and the newly launched X70D and X80D, Sony’s 4K HDR smaller screen sizes.
The company posted an overall sales increase of 35 per cent during the eight-day exhibition as compared to the same period in 2015. Sony 4K HDR TV segment was among the bestsellers during Gitex Shopper and has grown more than 60 per cent compared to last year.
“The TV industry landscape is gearing towards 4K HDR content as people are beginning to appreciate better picture quality and an enhanced experience. This growing awareness of superior quality of customer experience is driving an uptake of Sony 4K HDR TVs,” said Ryota Inamura, Sales Deputy General Manager, Sony Middle East and Africa.
In addition, Sony has seen a shift in customer preference towards bigger screens. Sony Bravia range TVs with screen sized 55-inch and above received a 25 per cent share growth at this year’s Gitex Shopper as compared to the previous year. There was a higher ratio of Dubai male visitors in the age group of 30 to 45 years across different nationalities mainly from the sub-continent, Arabs and locals, buying Sony 4K HDR TVs.
