Dubai, UAE, September 5, 2016: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) held today a ceremony for physicians who have received a membership from the Royal College of General Practitioners of London (MRCGP International).
His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami presented the certificates to 40 physicians who have received their membership from the Royal College of General Practitioners of London (MRCGP International) after successfully completing their MRCGP international examination in Dubai.
Dubai is the only centre in the region that is accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners of London (MRCGP International) to hold examinations in the Emirate. In the last ten years since Dubai received this accreditation, 377 physicians from 18 countries, have given their MRCGP International exam in Dubai and have successfully qualified to gain this membership.
Al Qatami, said: “We are pleased to have such a long-standing cooperation with the Royal College of General Practitioners of London for the MRCGP International membership as it presents an opportunity for primary healthcare physicians in Dubai who have completed their education to take the Royal College examination in Dubai instead of traveling to the United Kingdom. In line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, fostering and promoting higher education for our healthcare professionals is an important strategic goal of the DHA. We are keen to continue such collaborations to provide the medical sector with opportunities to pursue their higher education and seek international qualifications and accreditations while continuing to live and work in the Emirate.”
The MRCGP assessment is carried out in Dubai twice a year and Dubai is the only centre in the region to offer this examination. This program has provided convenience for primary healthcare professionals who are interested in gaining international accreditations.
The program is in line with the Authority's strategic objective to ensure highly qualified healthcare professionals serve the community.
