Smart Dubai Office Board of Directors holds 5th meeting

UAE, June 21, 2016 – The board of directors of Smart Dubai Office (SDO) held its 5th meeting, which was presided over by H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, chairman of the board, as part of its action to fulfil the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve Smart Dubai initiative and implement his ambitious directives for Dubai to become the happiest city on earth.
The meeting came also as part of SDO board's ongoing efforts to make a success of Dubai Smart City model with the aim of bringing happiness to people by changing Dubai into the happiest city in the world through adopting technological innovations and working with strategic partners from the public and private sectors for optimizing experiences in the entire city.
During the meeting, the board members emphasized that the success of the Smart Dubai's experience was based on several factors, most notably the presence of a leadership with a prudent vision, the existence of a legislative structure and the fact that Smart Dubai model is efficient and seamless.
H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of SDO, said: "We continually strive to have smart initiatives set up and adopted in all sectors with the aim of making Dubai a benchmark for smart cities worldwide in line with HH Sheikh Mohammed's directives for Dubai to be made the smartest and happiest city in the world."
Al Tayer underlined the importance of the smart transformation agenda for Dubai to become a sustainable city of happiness through creativity and innovation and for implementing concepts of strategic dimensions, throwing the light on futuristic opportunities and properly harnessing technologies so as to enhance the efficiency of Dubai City's services and hence bring sustainable happiness to its inhabitants.
H.E. Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director General of SDO, reviewed the workflow and updates as regards the implementation of decisions, initiatives and key projects Smart Dubai Roadmap, which depends on technological and smart innovations through 4 pillars: provision of integrated daily life services, optimised use of city resources, impact through enriched life & business experiences for all, and safety through anticipating risks and protecting people and information.
Dr. Aisha explained how these strategic pillars of Smart Dubai enhanced the strategic dimensions of smart transformation, these being smart governance, smart mobility, smart environment, smart people, smart living and smart economy, through the use of the current and futuristic technology.
The meeting also reviewed Dubai Smart Transformation Agenda 2021 with its 5 constituents (support of smart transformation, resources and infrastructure, individuals, businesses and government) and the key performance indicators (KPIs) 2017-2021 whose measure would support decision-makers in prioritizing targets and allocating resources with a view to supporting the smart city initiatives in all the dimensions of smart city. The KPIs would also enable the strategic partners of Smart Dubai Initiative to co-operate and communicate in order to upgrade performance and come to the desired results that would help the society be happy. It was noted that the SDO was working continuously on ensuring the alignment of the agenda with the other agendas in the city.

Younis Al Nasser, Assistant Director General of SDO and CEO of Dubai Data Establishment; Noora Al Suwaidi, Head of Strategy Department at Smart Dubai Office; Dr. Ali Al Azzawi; Dr. Okan Geray; and Eng. Saud Aziz, Board Rapporteur.
