The Great Dubai Pulse Ride is back for 2016 with more participants than ever expected to take part
Dubai, 28th February 2016: Dubai Sports City is set to stage their biggest cycling event to date as they prepare to host the seventh edition of the Great Dubai Pulse Ride with the family and friendly event expecting to see more participants than ever before.
Dubai Pulse will welcome cyclists from across Dubai, offering three different routes and distances for cyclists to take on, with a full support team on hand to manage the event. With 5km and 10km family rides and a 20km professional route offering the prize of free bicycles from the Cycle Hub, the seventh edition promises to be the most popular to date.
The event takes place on Friday, 4th March, 2016, beginning at The Rugby Zone, Sports Village, Dubai Sports City.
With participation numbers growing since its launch in 2013, the event has now become a must-do for Dubai Sport City residents and also keen cyclists around the city. Over 500 people took part in November’s ride and more than 5000 people have taken part in the event since its inception.
Now into its fourth year, The Great Dubai Pulse Ride is the result of a collaboration between Dubai Sports City President, Khalid Al Zarooni, and Dubai Sports Council. The event takes advantage of unused land behind the vast sports and lifestyle community, offering a perfect cycling environment for the family.
“It’s always an exciting time of the year as we prepare for the Dubai Pulse ride,” said Dubai Sports City president, Khalid Al Zarooni.
“To be able to use the land around Dubai Sports City provides us with a great playground for cyclists and its only right that we take advantage of what is on our doorstep.”
“We know that cycling is one of the fastest growing sports in the UAE so to offer something to the schedule of cycling events that is a non-competitive family ride with the Dubai Sports Council in a very safe environment is a joy for myself and the organisers.”
The Great Dubai Pulse Ride is part of a hugely growing community at Dubai Sports City, and while not exclusive to residents of the lifestyle community, the event is another pillar of its sporting and active-lifestyle amenities.
Dubai Sports City has had a busy beginning to 2016 with both the Masters Champions League and Pakistan Super League being staged at the Dubai International Stadium as well as European football sides visiting for warm weather training camps. The Dubai Tour also passed through Dubai Sports City as part of its four-day race across the UAE.
The Dubai Pulse cycle ride however, is now one of the stand-out events held at the lifestyle community and is one of the most important.
“It is great for Dubai Sports City to have high-performance sport being held within our community such as cricket, football and golf. To have world-class sporting superstars visit is fantastic for everyone but Dubai Pulse is special because everyone can take part,” added Al Zarooni.
“Cycling is a huge part of Dubai Sports City. We have people commute around the community on their bikes,” Al Zarooni continued. “My goal is to increase the culture of cycling in the local community. I want to see more bikes than cars on our streets.”
Dubai Sport City continue to be committed to the sport of cycling with bike ports being added across the community as the vision to have a sports infrastructure continues to take shape.
The Great Dubai Pulse Ride will take place on Friday, 4thMarch 2016 starting at The Rugby Zone, Sports Village. Rides will begin at 8am with registrations open from 7am. Go to thecyclehub.com for more details
