DEWA wins best m-Government Award in environment category at World Government Summit

Dubai, UAE, 10 February 2016: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won the Best m-Government Service Award in the environment category, which were announced on the third and last day of the World Government Summit, under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. DEWA has won this award for the second consecutive year.
“In support of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, winning this prestigious award in the environment category, emphasises the priority of environmental issues for DEWA. It also underlines the importance of raising society’s environmental awareness and the need to improve our behaviour towards environmental resources. We integrate environmental protection into all of our strategies and plans, and utilise our electronic and smart services to serve our environmental objectives. DEWA exerts every effort possible to achieve the sustainability of our natural resources, to ensure a healthy, bright future for generations to come,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

DEWA made several technological achievements in the past few years. In addition to the Best m-Government Award in the environment sector at the 3rd Government Summit 2015, DEWA won the Best Mobile Government Service from the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Program for Smart Government in 2013, 2014, and 2015. DEWA also won the Smart Applications for official organisations and General Government organisations 2015, and the Strategic Website Award in the category of government organisations, from the Academy Awards for Excellence in the Arab Region.
DEWA’s smart app provides over 150 services and features that meet the expectations and needs of all stakeholders, including customers, consultants, suppliers, job seekers, government organisations, and people with special needs. DEWA’s smart app is compatible with various platforms including Android, iOS, and Blackberry. It is also accessible on various operating systems including Windows, Windows Phones, Samsung home entertainment systems, Etisalat’s eLife.
