SAP, Gulf Air, and Dubai Police Partner on Supporting 24-Hour Mobile App Competition
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The future of smart mobile solutions in Smart Cities, education, and aviation are being developed at the first-ever GITEX Technology Week 24-Hour App Hackathon, which launched today.
More than 150 students, recent graduates, and industry professionals from around the world have signed up for the first-ever GTX App Hack. During the 24-hour friendly competition, teams are developing apps such as a smart fire alarm, smart citizen services, student progress tracker, managing school traffic, a city travel guide, and smart charity.
“GITEX is a gateway to see the future of technology and meet the technology’s sector industry players. It’s a good place to have a hackathon, with a diverse set of people coming together to push the limits of innovation,” said Ademola Sanusi from Nigeria, and a member of the Sky Time team.
The Sky Time app is a social network that aims to enhance the in-flight experience by using Bluetooth technology to connect passengers for chatting, playing games, exchanging travel tips, and sharing taxi rides after the flight.
The GTX App Hack is sponsored by SAP, Dubai Police, and Gulf Air, with participants encouraged to develop apps on the SAP HANA platform.
Three winning teams will receive cash prizes of AED 20,000, AED 15,000, and AED 10,000, with the grand finalist receiving a free subscription to the SAP Learning Hub, which provides training and certification on SAP solutions.
