UAE, July 21, 2015 -The National committee for Bio-security recently held its second meeting for 2015 at the ministry’s headquarters in Dubai. Chaired by H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, the meeting focused on the program’s developments since the national recommendations for the Ministry given during the inaugural meeting attended by committee members and key representatives from federal and local authorities.
Minister Bin Fahad commended the team’s tireless efforts at the beginning of the meeting, emphasizing the importance of strengthening collaborations with federal and local authorities and creating a more integrated network system amongst all relevant parties. This encouragement is in recognition of the essential role all organizations play in achieving UAE 2021 Vision’s strategic mission of establishing comprehensive bio-security and reinforcing the security and safety of the nation.
The meeting also tackled the importance of developing the bio-security procedures manual and the necessary preparations being done by the assigned team to this end. The second bio-security conference successfully reviewed the initiative in light of the large number of participants championing the cause inside and outside the country. The conference led to several key recommendations which included noting the importance of capacity building and periodic training on preparedness to increase response efficiency, the need for standardized bio-security policies and procedures, as well as the need to educate and raise awareness within the community.
The meeting is in line with committee’s efforts to implement the national bio-security strategy and promote the environmental initiative in the country.
