AFOCH Children Summer Camp Returns with several new activities
Last Update: Monday, July 13, 2015 : 13:13 (+4GMT)
The annual Children Summer Camp organized by the Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel (AFOCH), Abu Dhabi, returns in a refreshing avatar as the organizers have added several new elements to add more fun and entertainment to the month-long activities that will further enhance the participants’ skills.
To be conducted from July 26 to August 27, 2015, the camp is open for children from 5-year-old to 13-year-old. Designed to improve the participants’ overall coordination, balance and agility, the planned activities are as unique and educational as they are entertaining.
Sports have always been a pillar of summer camp programming at the AFOCH, thus Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Bowling will continue to form a major part of the activities during this summer camp as well. Shooting, Martial Arts, Fitness Classes, Arts & Crafts, Cultural Event and Sports Competition will form the core components of the summer camp activities that have been planned to enhance the participants’ skills.
The programs will also offer children an opportunity to explore their surroundings with cool adventures like water sports, swimming lessons and recreational trips. Children’s favorite activities like Playstation and Videogames are also on the list to keep the fun element alive.
Mr.Salah Al Zaabi, Director of Sports & Management in Armed Forces Officers Club & Hotel, said that the activities have been planned to ensure that children learn a variety of things at the same time. We also give children an option and do not go by a fixed schedule. They may opt for the activities on weekly basis as well as for the entire month.
He added, “We know that parents do not want children to join just another school in the name of summer camp. Thus we have planned these activities with an aim to ensure that the participants remain active throughout the camp duration and learn social skills as well. They would also learn life skills like independence and confidence that will create a foundation for the rest of their lives. I would like to assure parents that their children will have better understanding of other cultures after mingling with children from different parts of the world at the camp.”
The camp will run from Sunday to Thursday from 9am to 2pm daily. Lunch as well as water and juices will be provided throughout the session. Transport facilities are available for children living in various parts of Abu Dhabi. Parents planning to travel may opt to send their wards for one week, two weeks, three weeks or for the entire duration of the camp. Since places are limited to 400 children, it is recommended to enroll children early to avoid disappointment. Priority will be given to members and in-house guests and will be on a first come first serve basis. Special discount on the camp fees will be given if two or more children with same family name are enrolled.
