About the Company Our client is an established fashion retail company in Dubai, seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join its finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing outstanding receivables, ensuring timely customer payments, and maintaining strong financial controls across the business. The Role The Credit Controller will oversee the company’s credit control and accounts receivable activities, working closely with internal departments and customers to ensure efficient cash collection and minimise outstanding debts. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in credit control, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounts in a fast-paced retail environment. This role will involve direct client interaction so we are looking for someone with the confidence and well-dressed appearance to match the clients image as a fashion retailer Key Responsibilities Credit Control & Collections • Manage the company’s accounts receivable ledger and ensure timely collection of outstanding payments. • Monitor customer accounts and identify overdue balances. • Conduct regular follow-ups with customers regarding outstanding invoices. • Negotiate payment plans where appropriate and escalate overdue accounts when necessary. • Ensure customer payments are allocated accurately and promptly. • Minimise bad debts and maintain healthy cash flow. Accounts Receivable Management • Raise and process invoices, credit notes, and debit notes as required. • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies. • Maintain accurate records of customer transactions and payment activity. • Monitor credit limits and payment terms in line with company policies. • Prepare regular aged receivables reports and highlight potential risks. Retail Finance Support • Work closely with sales, retail operations, and finance teams to resolve billing and payment issues. • Assist with the reconciliation of wholesale, corporate, and other customer accounts, where applicable. • Monitor payments from retail partners, distributors, and other business customers. • Support month-end closing procedures and financial reporting. • Ensure compliance with company credit control procedures. Reporting & Analysis • Prepare weekly and monthly credit control reports. • Analyse outstanding balances, payment trends, and overdue accounts. • Provide management with updates on collection performance and potential bad debts. • Maintain accurate records within the company’s accounting or ERP system.

Requirements
Candidate Requirements • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in credit control or accounts receivable. • Previous experience within fashion retail, retail, wholesale, or a similar commercial environment is highly desirable. • Experience of dealing with companies like Amazon, Namshi, Brands For Less etc. is absolutely essential and will be tested at interview • Strong understanding of credit control procedures and accounts receivable processes. • Experience managing a high volume of customer accounts and transactions. • Good knowledge of invoicing, reconciliations, and debt collection procedures. • Strong analytical and numerical skills. • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. • Ability to work independently and meet collection targets. • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. • Experience working in the UAE is mandatory but experience of other countries like Syria, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Kenya would be highly regarded. • Fluency in English is essential. • Arabic language skills would be a distinct advantage. Academic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred. • A relevant diploma in Accounting or Finance will be considered alongside substantial practical experience. Professional Accounting Certifications • A recognised accounting qualification or certification is highly desirable, such as ACCA, AAT, CIMA, • Part-qualified accountants or candidates currently studying towards a recognised accounting qualification are encouraged to apply. • Strong practical experience in credit control and accounts receivable will be considered alongside formal qualifications. Accounting Systems & Technical Skills • Proven experience using SAP and Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) is essential or highly desirable. • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, and financial reporting. • Experience using accounting software and ERP systems to manage accounts receivable and credit control processes. • Ability to extract, analyse, and interpret financial data from accounting systems. • Experience working with high-volume customer accounts and financial transactions. Desirable Skills • This role will involve direct client interaction so we are looking for someone with the confidence and well-dressed appearance to match the client’s image as a fashion retailer • Experience with retail accounting systems and ERP platforms. • Knowledge of VAT invoicing and credit note procedures in the UAE. • Experience managing B2B customer accounts and wholesale receivables. • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently. • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Reduction in overdue receivables. • Improvement in collection efficiency. • Maintenance of accurate customer accounts. • Achievement of monthly collection targets. • Reduction in outstanding and potentially irrecoverable debts. • Timely and accurate financial reporting.
