The Role AutoCAD Draftsman / Joinery Detailer KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES • Conduct detailed site dimension surveys and level verification before releasing drawings for production. • Convert approved shop drawings into accurate workshop cutting lists, panel layouts and assembly instructions. • Provide necessary technical information to factory supervisors, carpenters and CNC machine operators. • Coordinate with the production team to clarify technical drawing requirements and resolve production-related design issues. • Assist carpentry teams and site supervisors in resolving technical queries during fabrication and installation. • Ensure drawing details are practical and suitable for manufacturing, assembly and site installation. Analytical and Reporting Activities • Assist in quantity take-offs, drawing-related quantity verification and variation requirements. • Review technical requirements and identify potential discrepancies or coordination issues before production. • Report technical, design or production-related issues to the Head of Projects & Fit-Out / Senior Designer Manager. Compliance Activities • Maintain structured drawing registers, revision logs and document control records. • Maintain material submittals, technical data sheets, hardware samples and relevant client correspondence records. • Ensure all drawings and technical documents are properly revised, approved and archived. • Comply with applicable safety regulations, site structural requirements and internal quality management standards. • Perform any other technical or coordination duties assigned by the Head of Projects & Fit-Out / Senior Designer Manager. Requirements BACKGROUND, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE • Familiarity with parametric cabinet design, panel processing or CNC integration software such as PolyBoard, Cabinet Vision, Alphacam or WoodwOP is an advantage. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. • Knowledge of PDF markup and technical drawing software such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat is an advantage. • Strong understanding of joinery materials, including solid wood, veneers, MDF, laminates, Corian and metal/glass inlays. • Good knowledge of architectural and joinery hardware systems such as Blum, Hafele, Grass and similar products. • Ability to prepare cutting lists, panel layouts and assembly instructions. • Ability to conduct site measurements, dimension surveys and level verification. • Strong understanding of manufacturing and installation requirements. • Good knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering and Architecture principles. • Excellent technical drawing and detailing skills. • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and structural requirements. • Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to communicate in Arabic is an advantage. • Ability to work across office, workshop and project-site environments. • Good knowledge of quality requirements applicable to joinery and interior fit- out projects Qualifications • Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Woodworking Technology, or any related design/technical field. • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in technical drafting, joinery detailing and coordination. • Experience in a custom joinery, cabinetry, furniture manufacturing or interior fit-out environment is highly preferred. • Practical experience in translating design concepts into fabrication-ready shop drawings is required. • Experience in GCC countries is highly preferred. • High proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and AutoCAD Architecture. • Working knowledge of SketchUp, 3D Max, Rhino or Revit for complex joinery and design requirements. Skills • Strong eye for aesthetics, proportions and construction details. • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. • Strong organizational and time-management skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants and internal departments. • Ability to work independently as well as within a team. • Ability to handle technical queries and resolve problems effectively. • Flexible and willing to support production and site teams when required.
