The Role JOB PURPOSE The Procurement Lead / Senior Procurement Officer – MEP will be responsible for managing procurement of MEP materials, equipment, and specialist subcontract packages in support of our engineering and construction projects based in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will bring specialized MEP procurement expertise and a strong track record of sourcing within the UAE market. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead end-to-end procurement of MEP materials, equipment, and specialist subcontract packages (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting/fire alarm, BMS, etc.) for projects in Abu Dhabi. • Develop sourcing strategies for MEP packages in line with project schedules, technical specifications, and budget requirements. • Issue RFQs and tenders to approved MEP vendors and subcontractors; lead technical and commercial bid evaluations in coordination with the engineering team. • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with MEP suppliers and subcontractors to secure best value while safeguarding quality and compliance. • Manage purchase orders and subcontract agreements through their full lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery to site and resolution of any supply issues. • Maintain and expand a database of qualified MEP suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors operating across the UAE. • Coordinate closely with design, engineering, and site teams to ensure procured materials and equipment meet approved technical submittals and specifications. • Track market pricing trends and lead times for key MEP equipment to support accurate project cost planning. • Ensure procurement documentation, approvals, and records are maintained in line with company policy and audit requirements. • Mentor and provide guidance to junior procurement staff on MEP sourcing best practices.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE • Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. • 10–12 years of procurement experience with a specialization in MEP materials, equipment, and subcontracts. • Minimum 10 years of procurement experience within the UAE, with an established network of MEP suppliers and subcontractors. • Strong technical understanding of MEP systems, specifications, and industry standards. • Professional procurement or supply chain certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is an advantage. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES • Strong technical and commercial negotiation skills specific to MEP packages. • In-depth knowledge of the UAE MEP supplier and subcontractor landscape. • Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel. • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and technical submittals. • Strong stakeholder management skills, liaising effectively with engineering, site, and finance teams. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
