The Role JOB PURPOSE The Design Manager will lead all design activities for a prestigious Luxury Hotel Development in Fujairah, UAE, from concept through to construction and handover. The role requires close coordination with consultants, contractors, and the client to ensure design deliverables meet the technical, aesthetic, and quality standards expected of a high-end hospitality project, while remaining aligned with the approved schedule and budget. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead and manage all design activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design through to construction and handover. • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and client requirements to ensure a fully integrated and buildable design. • Review and approve design deliverables, drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and specifications for technical accuracy and completeness. • Ensure design compliance with quality standards, project schedule, and approved budget. • Identify design risks and provide practical, value-driven engineering solutions to resolve them. • Drive innovation, sustainability, and value engineering throughout all phases of the project. • Liaise with UAE authorities and regulatory bodies to secure design approvals and permits in a timely manner. • Manage the design programme, ensuring milestones and deliverables are tracked and met by all consultants.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE • Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Engineering; a Masters degree is preferred. • 10+ years of Design Management experience, including a minimum of 5 years within the UAE. • Proven experience delivering Luxury Hotel, Hospitality, or High-End developments is required. • Strong knowledge of UAE building regulations, codes, and authority approval processes. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate multidisciplinary design teams. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across consultants, contractors, and client representatives. • Sharp eye for design detail and quality standards appropriate to luxury/hospitality-grade developments. • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple design packages and deadlines concurrently. • Sound commercial awareness, including BOQ review and value engineering practices. • Sound knowledge of the UAE construction market and applicable regulatory practices.
