The Role Department: Planning & Project Controls Industry: Construction (Buildings / Infrastructure / Civil Works) Job Summary The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure the timely completion of construction projects. The role involves project planning, progress monitoring, delay analysis, resource planning, and coordination with project teams to achieve project objectives in accordance with contractual requirements. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project. • Develop baseline schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), project milestones, and recovery plans. • Monitor project progress and compare actual performance against the approved baseline schedule. • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, S-curves, dashboards, and executive summaries. • Identify schedule delays, analyze their impact, and recommend corrective actions. • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure project activities are executed as planned. • Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contracts to develop realistic project schedules. • Prepare look-ahead schedules (2-week, 4-week, and monthly plans). • Conduct critical path analysis and monitor project float. • Assist in resource planning, including manpower, equipment, and material requirements. • Support claims preparation related to Extension of Time (EOT), delay analysis, and productivity assessments. • Monitor procurement and material delivery schedules to ensure timely project execution. • Participate in project meetings and provide planning updates to management and clients. • Maintain project planning records and ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual obligations. • Coordinate with the commercial and project control teams for cost and schedule integration. Requirements - Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. - Proven experience of 5+ years as a Planning Engineer within the construction industry, preferably in the UAE or the wider Middle East region. - Proficiency with project scheduling software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. - Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines. - Familiarity with construction contracts, procurement processes, and quality standards. - Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
