The Role We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead and oversee large-scale projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of major construction programs on behalf of a Supervision / Project Management Consultant. The role provides overall direction, leadership, and governance to ensure that project objectives related to schedule, cost, quality, safety, sustainability, and stakeholder satisfaction are achieved in full alignment with Saudi Arabian regulatory frameworks and client requirements. Serving as the primary interface with senior client leadership, contractors, government authorities, and internal technical teams, ensuring seamless coordination, robust risk management, and disciplined project controls across all phases of the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities 1. Leadership, Governance & Strategic Transition • Execute hand-over procedures from the Early Works (EOI) Supervision Consultant, ensuring a seamless transition into main construction phases. • Provide overarching direction and strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary engineering, supervision, and project controls team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture. • Establish the overall project vision, execution strategies, KPIs, and governance frameworks aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. 2. Client & Stakeholder Management • Act as the main point of contact and trusted advisor for senior client representatives, ministries, PIF entities, and local municipalities. • Facilitate executive-level progress reviews, decision-making sessions, and project steering committees to ensure continuous alignment. • Maintain proactive communication to prevent disputes and resolve critical issues before escalation. 3. Construction Supervision & Quality Oversight • Direct resident engineers and discipline leads in monitoring contractor performance against method statements, ITPs, and world-class quality benchmarks. • Enforce strict Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs, design compliance, and regulatory adherence. • Promote digital engineering adoption (BIM, GIS, and digital twins) to maximize site optimization and efficiency. 4. Project Controls, Commercial & Risk Management • Develop comprehensive project plans, including master timelines (IMS), resource allocations, and procurement strategies tailored for an international stadium asset. • Interpret and administer complex construction contracts, managing variations, Extension of Time (EoT) claims, and contractor invoices while executing dispute avoidance workflows. • Drive rigorous risk management processes, managing the integrated risk register, contingency drawdown logic, and forecasting accuracy. 5. HSE, Reporting & Key Deliverables • Develop and execute project Safety Initiatives to strictly reinforce a "Zero Tolerance" and zero-harm culture on-site, in line with OSHA/NEBOSH frameworks. • Produce high-level Monthly Reports and executive dashboards capturing project status, contract milestones, budget updates, and strategic risks or opportunities. • Ensure completion of world-class handover documentation, commissioning files, and municipal/authority approvals across the project lifecycle.
Requirements EDUCATION: Degree in BSc Engineering, or Construction Management. EXPERIENCE: 20 years of experience in Building Construction Projects. SKILLS - Experience in using EDMS Software, e.g. Aconex, etc. - Well versed with MS Office Applications - Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools. - Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders. - Familiarity with the engineering consultancy industry and Saudi Arabian market is a plus. - Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous. - Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards. - Valid Membership Saudi Council of Engineers Certificate.
