20th Edition of World’s Largest and Most Revered Food and Hospitality Trade Show is Ideal Platform to Announce Strategic Expansion of Brand, Says Chairman
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: As part of an aggressive brand expansion, Amira Nature Foods Ltd (NYSE Listed: ANFI) showcased its new Organic food range at Gulfood 2015 this morning.
The Amira organic product portfolio will include Amira Basmati Rice, Brown Basmati Rice, Kidney Beans, Chick Peas, Whole Wheat Flour as well as Brown Chana and Tur Dal.
According to Karan A. Chanana, Chairman of The Amira Group, the world’s largest food and hospitality trade show is the ideal platform to make such a significant announcement.
“For 100 years and across four generations of the family business, we have been supporting India’s traditional farming communities. By venturing into the organic food business, we are further strengthening our commitment and responsibility towards consumers, farmers and the environment,” he said.
“The Middle East remains a key market for us and making this announcement here is significant because it underscores our commitment to providing the best food products in the region,” he added.
Extensive organic rice farming projects have been set up by Amira in the Terai region of India, known for its low lying area, soil quality, agro climatic conditions and proximity to the pure irrigation water of the Ganges. Other strategic and suitable locations have also been identified for other Amira organic farming projects, including spices in Sikkim, lentils and beans in the Bhilwara region of Rajasthan, Kesar mangoes in Gujarat and cashews in the tribal belts of Orissa, to name a few.
A dedicated Amira team has been working with 7500 farmers to cultivate more than 12,000 hectares for these multiple organic crops. By providing technical guidance, marketing linkage and access to the best organic and sustainable methods of farming, best quality seeds and bio-inputs to farmers, each organic crop is being grown using environmentally and animal friendly techniques, ensuring that each mouthful of Amira organic food is naturally good for your health and wellbeing.
According to a recent article published in the British Journal of Nutrition, “organic crops, on average, have higher concentrations of antioxidants, lower concentrations of Cd and a lower incidence of pesticide residues than the non-organic comparators across regions and production seasons.”
According to Mr. Chanana, Amira’s organic food range is grown using no pesticides or harmful chemicals. These products have a longer shelf life and taste better than non-organic food. The health benefits of organic food are also countless, including boosting immunity, improving the health of one’s heart, reducing the risk of cancer and supporting one’s digestive system.
